Sooo yummy!. Total guilty pleasure heaven! I ordered the Sweetwater Catfish and loved every bite of its spicy deliciousness, the Cornbread Muffin (Perfectly moist & a hint of sweetness) the drunken apples (SO DELISH) corn on the cobb and of course the Garlic Red-Skin Mashed Potatoes. Definitely couldn't eat everything but man did I try! We went on a busy night but were seated promptly and had a very friendly waitress who was not only friendly, but knowledgeable and attentive, can't beat the prices either! I LOVE this restaurant!

Slow-smoked barbecue and down-home sides dished up in a roadhouse setting.. In Short
Famous Dave's recipes began as a hobby for Dave Anderson, who opened his first 'cue shack in Hayward, Wisc., in 1994. Now a national phenomenon, the restaurants cater to diners who dig into finger-licking-tasty meat. The menu features chopped pork, Texas brisket, baby back ribs and fire-kissed chicken slathered with signature sauces like vinegary Georgia Mustard. Entrees, some of which arrive atop a garbage can lid, come with corn on the cob, drunken apples, baked beans or slaw.

Surprisingly good barbeque for a chain! Get baby back ribs. Avoid brisket.. RIBS: Ribs come as spare ribs (large, with a mild rub) and baby back ribs, which are smaller and have a spicier rub. We ordered our ribs n@ked but they will put any of their 5 sauces on them before serving. Spare ribs were meaty and smoky, and had been cooked long enough to render off the fat. Baby back ribs were noticeably spicier and were just great (best of the 4 meats we tasted).

BRISKET: Brisket had a pleasant, mildly smoky taste and is dressed (whether you ask for it or not) with Rich and Sassy sauce. The brisket has an unusual consistency which we believe comes from salt brining the meat before cooking.

PORK: Pulled pork is good. The flavor is mild, almost subtle, and the preparation is of large chunks of tender meat with no fat or nasty gristle. Pulled pork comes with a splash of Rich and Sassy sauce, and is heaped on a piece of Texas Toast which makes it easy to eat as an open faced sandwich is you like.

SIDES: Sides are many and we ordered baked beans and corn on the cob (which comes free with platters). Beans were cloyingly sweet, smoky, and actually pretty good. They have a lot of pleasing meaty chunks mixed in.

SAUCE: The five sauces make sure that you will find a sauce you like. Sweet and Zesty is both. Rich and Sassy is a great standard tomato based sauce. Georgia Mustard is really nice, even if you dont generally go for vinegary-mustardy concoctions. Devils Sp1t is pleasantly hot but not too hot. Texas Pit sauce is a one-dimensional ode to the taste of chili powder, and while it tastes nothing like Ive ever eaten in Texas, some of our testers liked it.

All in all we give this place a B+ (although the short ribs were a solid A-). (We tend to index our grades to A+ joints like The Salt Lick outside of Austin Texas)

GREAT SAUCES BUT...... IN MY OPINION THE RIBS WERE TOUGH AND FATTY WITH NOT MUCH MEAT. THE REST OF THE MEAL WAS GREAT. BEEF BRISKET IS GOOD AND SO ARE THE RIB TIPS.
