Didn't have a chance to try the Paella but the veal was fantastic. Great choice for downtown Detroit. Lucky, cause there aren't that many options!
Happy Valentines!. We had hoped on having a nice romantic meal for Valentines day. Had a cocktail at the bar while waiting for the table. Once set, no one after 20 minutes even looked at us or provided a menu. After 25 minutes we left. Staff did not apologize or give any reason for lack of attention. Nothing. I would shy away from this spot if you truly want to eat something.
Good food, friendly staff, a bit slow service. Had Paella for 4--$30/person. Was really enjoyable. . It takes about 45 minutes.. ours came out probably faster than that. The seafood was well cooked. Reasonable priced wine list. Found a really nice Spanish Rioja for $45. Friendly service. A bit slow, seems as if there might not be enough staff for the place, but times are tough right now, so that's forgivable. We were there early (7:30)--so no music at that time, so I can't comment on the later night festivities, but a place I'd return because it was different, good, and had a staff that seemed happy.
Tables for 2 are not ideal. I heard this place has good food and fun atmosphere. So I made reserved a table for 2 to go have dinner. The table for 2 was horrible ,,,located steps aways from the bathroom ...with the fine smell of urinal mints. Also, a heavy traffic lane with waiters going to the kitchen non stop and patrons to the rest room. I asked for an alternate table and they had another 2 top table out of main dining room next to fish tank. The manager said that its probably better to reserve a table for four. Bottom line: if you have 2 people .... either add 2 more to your reservation OR go somewhere else, We went somewhere else. I would like to try this restaurant some other time with 4 people.
Awesome ambience, great food, and terrific drinks -- all of which feels like you're in Havana!. The only drawback of this place is that it's NOT FAST. If you need to get in and out ... don't go here. Otherwise, the food is wonderful, and who in their right mind doesn't like fried plantains? My favs are the Ropa Vieja and the Paella -- though if you order the Paella for two people, be ready to eat until your clothes burst! More than enough to take home, and packed with just heavenly seafood -- prawns that'll kick your butt if you call 'em shrimp, mussels in the shell, and perfectly done scallops. Oh -- and they even do cater to picky eaters, too, though you need to be very specific if you order off the menu. Enjoy!
