Tips for Coach Insignia

October 28, 2012

Beware of Groupon rip-off by Coach Insignia. Coach Insignia sells groupon coupons and then will not allow customers to book a reservation for a month or more before the groupon expires. Coach Insignia has done this twice during 2012. Groupon will not protect its customers from this rip-off. Don't buy groupons for Coach Insignia or

you will be ripped off just like me. Can't trust this restaurant with anything if this is how they treat their new

customers.

Is this place going to close?. We went to Coach Insignia in spite of what several of our friends reported--one was so unimpressed that, when the Manager offered her a free meal to make up for the lousy one she had, she TURNED THEM DOWN and she works in Ren Cen! I want to patronize good restaurants, so I booked a dinner for 2. First off, the food was much better than that served to our friends. The scallops (though there should have been 5-6 for the price) were very good but needed better carmelization. The short ribs (2 of them!) were good, too, but not as good as just up the river a few hundred yards. Service? VERY GOOD. Ambience? Great view, almost worth the price. So what was lacking? We paid a lot of money to eat with....folks wearing tank tops and flip flops. I kid you not. Golf shirts with cell phone on the hip. Makes me think there might not be enough fine diners to go around. I dress casually at times and like going to relaxed places, But when I think I'm going out for a WOW experience, I look for something far more refined. With the demise of Asian Village and GM's woes, my guess is GM is bankrolling the Matt Prentice Org and won't be able to subsidize much longer.

Highly recommended. I've gone to this restaurant for quite a few times but last summer I went there for my 21st birthday with my parents. This visit was probably one of the best I've had in any restaurant. The food was exceptional, the service was great, and the view was amazing. Although it is a bit pricey I think it is well worth the money.

Very romantic, great food, a must place to go, service very excellent and attendive. My Husband and I went there to have dinner for our wedding anniversery this past week-end, the service was excellent, from the valet parking, to the Hostess, and from our server "Cynthia ". One must try the crab cakes, lobster Bisque, Short ribs of beef, and the Lobster tail (too much mashed potatoes). Best of all, you can your car waiting for you, by haveing the Hostess call down to valet.

The waitstaff is sexist. Men are treated with greater respect than women. Wine is served to males first for tasting when it was ordered by a woman. Leaves me wondering what century they are in.. The food was great, and sitting on top of Detroit, of course has impressive embience. The prices are comparitive to other fine dining restaurants in the area. The waitstaff was adequate but it leaves me wondering what training they have had for sensitivity. It is proticol to serve the person that orders wine first for tasting. Many fine dining restaurants have addressed this issue by serving everyone with a taste before the wine is acceptable. Coach Insignia still subscribes to the "Good ole Boy" system. I was insulted publicly and the waiter simply disappeared after this, opting for his partner to serve my table. He wanted his tip at the end though. This is totally unacceptable.
