Lunch
Much like another review I read from June, the female behind the bar is so rude it was ridiculous. I was told by the lady at the door, (as she gave me a menu), to get the attention of the lady behind the bar to place my carryout order. She ignored me until I waved my hands in her face repeatedly for the fourth time. On each occasion she walked away to a male customer. Finally she pointed me out to a male bar man and he came, offered me a seat at the bar, asked did I want anything to drink, and took my order. He had great customer service. The bar maid appeared to only cater to the male customers. It was crowded with standing room only. It took 30 minutes to receive my carry out order, which was not a bad wait considering how crowded they were.
The food is excellent and although it is noisy, I enjoy the atmosphere, especially the little outdoor eating area. I think they could invest in some customer service training for some of their staff members.
- Pros: The food is fantastic.
Lunch

My friend and i went to Slows for lunch today. Busy 30 minutes after opening. The wait time was 1 hour, so we decided on take out. The female at the front door would not give us a menu. She said we had to get one from the bar. The female behind the bar is so rude it is a shame. She ignored us until my friend slapped the bar and said may she have a menu. She walked away to a male customer. So a male bar man came by and gave us a menu and took our order. When two seats at the bar became available we sat. The bar maid kept rolling her eyes at us and did not offer us anything to drink. She would only cater to the male customers. She had the audacity to tell some male customers i quote: You will be able to get some seats when those two leave. They are waiting for take out but are taking up seats. Well, we were paying customers too, so why not sit when a seat became available. It was crowded and standing room only. It took 40 minutes to receive our food and when we got it she threw the bag with our order on the bar. My friend said thank you and the bar maid said whatever. We heard good things about this place but decided never to go back. Also, they need to deflect some of the noise out of there. It is too noisy and too small. The food is excellent that is why i gave them three stars. I told my husband never mind going back. (He and i planned to go). This place is too busy and too noisy. It needs to be in a bigger building. Our ears were ringing when we left out of there. They need better service, then again, the servers are probably stressed and hard of hearing from the small enclosure. Poor management for not getting a better building. Mary ann and mac n cheese and sweet potatoe mash was great, even though the sides were the same price, the mash came in a smaller cup than the mac n cheese. What is up with that?
- Pros: Food
- Cons: Customer Service, Noise Level
Great Food! Horrible Wait.

I first started going to Slow's soon after it opened. I quickly fell in love with it. Simply the best bbq I've had in good sized portions for a decent price. My wife and I used to be able to go eat and have drinks for around $50. However, I have noticed since then the food portions have decreased and the prices increased. The wait has always been in issue and little has been done to try to rectify it.
- Pros: Great food
- Cons: The LONG wait/decline in quality and price
BEST BBQ.

Having grown up in various spots in the south, I am picky about my BBQ. Nonetheless, I still consider Slow's to be some of the best i've ever had.
Though on the slightly pricier side (particularly with sides coming a la carte), their food is to die for. Exceptional gumbo, absolutely fantastic sides (great waffle fries and the BEST mac & cheese i've ever had), good sandwiches (the Yardbird on Texas Toast is what I imagine heaven might taste like), large portions, great ambiance, etc. Good beer list, though I wish they catered more to the stout drinkers!
I've noticed the cons seem to be about service; I can attest after several visits. Though I've never had the rude service other reviews have mentioned, one or two times I went (when busy), I definitely spent HOURS there simply due to the wait for service, food, etc. Try and go at an off time (the food is just as good), I guess, to get better service (and trust me, there are some nice waiters!).
- Pros: FOOD.
- Cons: Hit or miss service.
Fantastic

Great place in Detroit. The place is packed so getting a drink while you wait for a table can be challenging. Once you are seated service is prompt and friendly. Food was simply delicious.
- Pros: great food
- Cons: the wait
