Better off grabbing a Frozen Dinner from Krogers. $50+ carry out that ended up in the garbage it was so bad. The chicken tasted like the floor mat in the kitchen. The shrimp was so tough that we had to toss it out. The food is just plain bad and small portions to boot. We went when it first opened and it was bad so we thought we would give it another try a few years later and it is worse. Grosse Pointe needs a GOOD restaurant but NOT another Italian one. The Hill is about the only decent place and that is hitt or miss as well. Open a good steak place in GP with fresh food and you will be packed.
Beautiful Ambiance, Kind/Efficient Service, Delicious Food and SMOKE FREE. City Kitchen is a long overdue restaurant in the Grosse Pointe area and agreeing with the previous review; a nice addition to the Village. It's comfortably upscale with beautiful decor. I especially like the full sized bar that's made out of zinc...a very nice/unique touch. The prices can be a bit high but the food and service backup the prices (the halibut had great flavor along with a nice presentation). Even though Michigan is behind such states as California and New York, City Kitchen is completely SMOKE FREE which I love. I do agree it's not kid friendly but they do have a kids menu which helps out the wallet a bit. CK is definitely a restaurant to check out.
Nice addition to the village.. I highly recommend this restuarant, the soft shell crab is awesome. The service is rather slow, but you are there to enjoy yourself - why be rushed, right? The prices are not on the cheap end, nor are they on the very expensive list. The portion size is on the small side, but then again - we Americans eat too much as it is, can't blame them for watching our waistlines. Hope you found this review helpful, enjoy your dining experience....it's definitelt a place to be seen in GP!
Not worth the money. Though the decor and atmosphere are welcoming and warming with a Tuscan flair, they can't make up for the small portions and lack of quality of food, not to mention the ever so slow kitchen. Just had lunch there, glad we didn't waste our money on dinner. In short the best thing about our meal is when it was over.
