Editorial Review for Loui's Pizza – by Karen Dybis

In Short
There's nothing fancy about this beloved pizza palace. The foyer is festooned with a garland of empty Chianti bottles, an indicator of the good time to come. Tiny plastic-covered tables are shoved together, so conversation flows among the diners, mostly families looking for a night out. The menu is full of reasonably priced Italian favorites, but most choose the antipasto salad, Loui's crusty pizza and a glass of red wine for toasting.

I absolutely love this place! THe house dresing on the antipasto is amazing! The portions are giant and the deep dish pizza is to die for. The place is small but what it lacks in square footage it makes up for in taste, portion, speed and friendliness. This is the kind of place you could bring your four crazy three year olds and make it out in one piece. The service is friendly, quick and observant. I never once had to ask for a refill on my beverage, the server just brought another one over. The food was hot, fresh and heaven on a plate. I would recommend this place to anyone, and I'm sure they would thank me for it. Thank you to Louie's for being an A+ dining experience!

Pros: Antipasto Salad, Deep Dish Pizza, Service

Cons: Too far from where I reside :-)

Their waitstaff is nothing to write home about. Think Burger King type of attitude. Kind of makes you feel like they are doing you a favor by being there. Other than that it is great. I continue to go back regularly, just wish the waitstaff was different.

Pros: Pizza and house dressing

Cons: Waitstaff, Waitstaff, Waitstaff, and parking a little bit.

A humble decor gives this traditional pizza joint in Hazel Park its Old-World appeal.  See the full editorial review.
