I had visited Ewe-Nique Knits a few years back while on a break from class, and was not really impressed. But after visiting again a few weeks ago, I was very positively surprised! They had expanded their physical space, and had quite an extensive variety of everything - yarn, needles, and especially books (the best book department in a yarn shop that I've been in, actually!). The store was very cozy, everything neatly displayed, and plenty of space to sit and look through pattern books. The lady who helped me was very friendly, very knowledgeable, and seemed truly committed to customer service. She really took the time to show me yarns and patterns that she thought I'd like based on some of the finished items on display that I had remarked about - and she was right on! I loved everything she showed me! I really came in just to browse, but after looking around and talking with the shop workers I left with yarn and patterns for Christmas presents. It is very conveniently located in Downtown Royal Oak, with ample parking very close by. I will definitely be back!

Pros: Service, Variety of merchandise, Location, Parking, Hours

Cons: none

I have visited all of the yarn shops in this part of the state (from here all the way to Ann Arbor!) and I can say that Ewe-nique Knits is the best one. It is "under new management" and the difference is obvious! This shop is the only shop that I have visited where the people who work there think enough of their customers to greet them as they enter and to be warm and friendly to everyone who comes in. As a knitting teacher, I like to refer my students there because they do a great job of stocking a wide range of yarns for every project and for every budget. As a knitter, I have also noticed that they are one of the few yarn shops to keep a complete needle inventory in stock at all times; I have never gone there and found them to be out of any needle size. They also offer a wide range of fun-sounding classes and they host a knitting circle. The parking is quite convenient; I usually have two small children with me and we have never had a problem securing a space right in front of the shop. I highly recommend this shop!
