Editorial Review for Buddy's Pizza--Dearborn – by Citysearch Editors

In Short
Buddy's is a Detroit institution ("since 1946"). It's loud and family-friendly, with TVs everywhere, and serves distinguished, if not risky, pizza; the furthest away from traditional it gets is the gourmet vegetarian pizza with cauliflower and broccoli. The unusual crust is one reason Buddy's delights; it's barely there and yet crisp as can be. A wide range of fried appetizers, homemade soups, burgers, sandwiches and pastas is also available.

MY Dad use to take me and my brother there back in the 70's as kids.I was 7 or 8 and use to ask my Dad to alway take us there, whenever we visited him.We lived on the Indian Reservation in Canada, my mom and Dad were separated @ that time. I remember the Pizza, square, which I never seen before, was so good and chessy. The people in the place were so friendly and loud. It was dark and cozy then. But I alway remember how good the pizza was, thick and alot of toppings, cooked good. Fast foward to 35 years later, I moved to Lexington,Ky. A US Marine, Beirut, Veteran.a Divorce father of 3 girls, and I still remember the Buddys Pizza Joint. I recently went back home to the "Rez" to see my family and had to stop in and have great pizza and tell my daughters about my young tales of the super tasting pizza of Buddys of old. The pizza and atmostphere brought great childhood memories. The pizza and service was STILL the same friendly and loud, cozy place. As if I never missed a day without Buddys pizza. I hope my daughters put Buddys pizza in their memory file, because they sure enjoy the food and service and of course the tales of old! Thanks buddys pizza for allowing me to remember, having great pizza doesn't hurt either. By the way my mom and dad got back together a few years later and are enjoying their 50 year anniversary!! They still remember those Buddys pizza days. Thanks and Semper FI.

Pros: atmostphere, friendly staff and customers

Cons: The wait, only sometimes and worth it.
