people only write "bad" reviews.
I believe that people only have something to say when they want to complain about something. This is one of the best thai restaurants around. I go out of my way to eat at this particular restaurant as there is one I can walk to from where I live, I choose to drive 20 minutes out of my way. I eat at Mai Garlic on a regular basis, when I get it for lunch. Everybody I work with loves it. We always go as a group. It is packed at lunch, sometimes you have to wait for a table. I understand it is a family-owned business, since people love the food so much it gets busy and the waitresses try their best to accomodate every table during the rush hour. I have seen them work hard. Most people understand this and I haven't heard any complaints from my coworkers. Take out is prompt, I leave right when I am done ordering it and it is ready by the time I get there. My order is always correct. They have a good frequent customer program. With each meal you purchase you get a stamp. After 10 stamps you get a free meal. My coworkers and I love taking advantage of this program. I recommend this restaurant to anybody that loves really good thai food. Even newbies love this place and keep going back. If you don't have the time to sit down and eat it, the take-out is an excellent option.

Nice Little Restaurant.
This is a nice little restaurant. The food is inexpensive and tastes great. I also like there portions. I have not tried their dinner but lunch always fills me up. They should come up with more sitting area.

BE WARNED - WILL OVERCHARGE YOUR CREDIT CARD BY 20.8%.
I went to this restaurant because the overview from City Search said it was "a favorite among locals" so I tried it. The food is way below average for a Thai restaurant. Noodles were soggy and the vegetables were undercooked. On top of mediocre food, they overcharged my credit card by 20.8%. I signed for my carryout bill for one amount but when I looked at my on line bank statement, they charged me nearly 21% ext - giving themselves a tip of over $4.00. When I called I was lied to by the owner ("The owner isn't here right now" and later saying "I am the owner here, Mai"), and then she tells me that whenever you go to any restaurant, they always charge you an extra 20% because they have a tip line. What!?! I have never in my life, ANYWHERE, EVER had a restaurant charge me an extra 20% on a carrray out order because there was a tip line. I was promised that this charge would come off of my bill within a few days - I have not seen that yet and will be absolutely be on top of this situation. I realize that $4 is not a lot of money, but I decided to go to this restaurant rather than Thai Basil in livonia because they were a little less expensive. I would have rather spent the extra $4 on Thai Basil than a dishonest mediocre restaurant. I suggest that if you do decide to go here to eat you should check your bill and then your online statement to see how much they have overcharged you!

The tiny eatery has become a favorite among locals..
In Short
Ford employees on their lunch breaks pack the small dining room tucked within the L.A. Plaza Shopping Center. In the evening, diners are sparse. Mai Garlic's lunch menu offers 32 dishes, including several fried rice and noodle entrees. The dinner menu offers nearly 50 entrees, including salad dishes such as Yam Neau (sliced barbecue beef with cucumbers). Mai Garlic serves one of two soups, but the lunch crowd doesn't get a choice.
