In Short – Grab a stool and belly up to the bar for a fast but tasty bite. Watch your elbows; there are no tables and barely enough room for the waitresses as they scoot along the tile floor. Salty comments from the regulars mix with dishes clanging and your crinkle-cut fries hitting the grease. Best of all, with a full meal comes a small bill.

A warm and friendly setting you can sit and relax, and look at the cars go by. AND think of the good old days when times was better. It is the first place i think of when i want a memory of the south!!!!!

Can't beat the burgers!

Bates is legendary in Livonia. If you haven't been there, you must try it. The burgers, while a bit greasy are extremely tasty. Try the crinkled fries and a shake with your burgers as well. Bates used to be open much later back in the day. They close earlier these days so check the hours prior to making the trek.
