FRAUD OR MALPRACTICE? - AVOID

Halboth diagnosed that a 2010 crown provided by the patient’s previous dentist did not cover the tooth and that the tooth would “rotted out” within a few years. When the patient indicated that Delta only covered a new crown every 5 years, Halboth said “you won’t have a tooth in 5 years.” Halboth recommended immediate replacement by himself. The patient submitted the case to peer review and met with three MDA peer review dentists, which after examining the crown and X-ray, concluded that the crown was sound. Halboth’s office never verified the benefits available under the patient’s insurance plan and began taking numerous sets of x-rays. Insurance did not pay for the 1 every 5 years and patient was billed. When the patient offered to pay for half of the X-ray, she was informed that she's lucky not to have been billed $35 for the copy sent to peer review. The office also threatened to take the patient to small claims court even though the patient never said that she was not going to pay the bill.

I came in today for a filling. Dr. Halboth was very nice and informative. I was very satisfied with his work and it was virtually pain free. I was taken care of in a speedy fashion, but no so fast that I felt rushed.
I will be coming back and will tell all my family and friends about the kind, considerate and professional care I received.

Only go if you have hours to hang out in his office.

For general teeth cleanings, you will be in and out. If you are going for ANY other service, go somewhere else. He is always behind schedule just getting you in a room, Once you are in a room, you wait a while longer. I was there 3 hours plus for something that took him a total of 45 min to physically do. He would do one small step.. then jump to another patient.. chat with people.. do some work.. stop.. chat some more, then jump to another patient, etc. It would be nice if he finished with one patient at a time, then moved on to the next.
He also charged me in advance for services he hadnt done yet till the next visit. I never did the followup appt but he never corrected the charge. I had to call. Ladies in the office are great though.
I think he assumes everyone has all the time in the world to sit in his office. We all have enough to do in a day without being a captive to his service. He needs to respect peoples schedules and get them in and out.
- Pros: The office staff are great.
- Cons: Visits take forever. Verify all charges.

Dr. Halboth is either unethical or incompetent

Dr. Halboth is either an incompenent or an unethical dentist. Either way, he should not be your family's dentist.
Dr. Halboth has conducted unnecessary procedures. He examined a member of my family and stated she needed fillings on many teeth. Dr. Halboth drilled and filled several of those teeth. Later we went to a different dentist we learned the remaining teeth Dr. Halboth wanted to drill and fill did not have cavities. This was a few years ago, and those teeth still have no cavities.
Dr. Halboth's office has also billed for procedures they did not conduct. This is FRAUD, and caused us lots of problems with the insurance company. It took months to straighten out.
I want to repeat that this dentist contucted unnecessary procedures on a member of my family because I want you to understand that he hurt one of my family members. I really do not want him to have the chance to do this to anyone else.

- Cons: Unethical, fraudulent, poor quality of work
