great food. A group of us were in there late last tuesday, The waiter took forever to get our drinks. He seemed more interested in my brother than waiting on us as A group. The food was very fast and taisted outstanding. My hsband and I wont return. Kimmy

Good Food-Ripoff on Soft Drinks. Dinnertime: 2 adults, 2 teenagers. Had pizza. Kids had colas and the adults each had ice tea.

Food was good, service was good (until the end).

The bill included $14 for 2 ice teas and 2 Cokes.

Turns out you get 1 free refill on your tiny 7 oz. drink and then they start charging again. The waitress very clearly never mentioned this. The two adults had a number of ice tea refills.... Bottom line: About $9 for maybe .40 cents worth of watered down ice tea.

Will never set foot in this place again. This was so blatantly beyond the norm of reasonable expectations, I call it borderline fraud!

TERRIBLE SERVICE. Place had terrible service. Waitress when I asked her about the bill took a total indignant tone with me. Charged me for something that was not listed as being an upgrade cost. When I asked her about she treated me as if the question was the dumbest thing she had ever heard. Used to go there alot but will not be going there ever again. Again HORRIBLE SERVICE

outstanding perch. We were in there sat. nite around 10:30, Our first time The enertainment was bad. The perch , stuffed mushrooms and steak perfection, were out of this world. The owner Jimmy greated us very kind. The food 5 star all the way very impressed for A bar. Mellisa

My favorite Northville Restaurant. In the years I've eaten at The Starting Gate, I've never had a bad experience. The food is always cooked to perfection. Not only do they have the best pizza, they offer many gourmet menu items like Chicken Alfredo, Ribs with Jack Daniel sauce, etc. For the number of diners any given night, the waitstaff does a great job. Yes, the current decor is nostalgic, but the regular constituents don't want to see the Starting Gate change. It is much like "CHEERS". It's comfortable. However, I am excited to hear that The Starting Gate is soon to feature a new look and a new menu. Jimmy Jr. has been working wonders with the place. Jimmy Jr. has been voted "Waiter of the Year" two years in a row. He also offers catering services for parties and meetings. He and the owners are very community oriented.

People have their own opinion, but mmr68 and mysterigirl are wrong. Either they are a disgruntled employee that was fired for wrong doing or a patron that was barred for inappropriate behavior. Neither is tolerated by the owners or their son, Jimmy Jr.

16 year love affair!. Most comfortable place in Northville. Best fish fry in SE MI. One of the best hamburgers available. Taco salad too. Bathrooms and seat cushions are wack, but not that hard to ignore in this place. All but one of the waitstaff is great. hasn't been here all this time for no reason!!

The place is run by baboons .. The waitresses eat food { meant for patrons } right off the plate, out of the kitchen window. Disgusting. I would never go there again.

Best Pizza in the area! Horrible rude service- never been talked to so rudely!. Super long wait on Friday night, 4 other tables served various dishes before us although seated after us (we ordered 2 pizzas, 2 wet burritos, one lasagna- tough order)! Rude manager, rude waitress, spoke down to us when we requested silver wear for my husband's cold wet burrito. Requested ice for the pop 3 times and never received it, so we had warm pop. The lasagna had NO pasta in it.....a bowl of cheese and sauce! UNBELIEVABLE! RUDE, will NEVER RETURN!

great pizza, nice large menu, it has everything. This is very nice place, they have so many choices to choice from, pizza ribs, our favorite is the pizza.

Mary and Jimmy are just what this place needs to pull it all together. this is ***top notch on our list***

this is a great time when sing kaoeke on friday's thank you starting gate!!

THe Starting Gate. Gee What can be said about the infamous Starting Gate Saloon....Well let's see, it's filthy, check out the out dated disgusting bathrooms.

Do we want to talk about the decor? Talk about out dated, not to mention the cob webs. And heaven forbid, you look in the kitchen.

And let's not forget one of your hosts, the owners son....Jimmy, have him wait on you and you will have a lot to say..

Recommendation: don't go there.
