Blah. The menu claimed the same burger for over 50 years. I didn't find anything to brag about for the price. Drinks are expensive. Service was good.
overpriced. Are you kidding me I had to go to the bar myself to pay $4.10 for a domestic bottle of beer?? Once seated we waited 10 min for a waiter to come to our table just to say "are you ready" No hello, no do you want another drink, (to which we would have laughed no way were we paying for another one). Then the waiter threw 4 napkins on the table our silverware was wrapped setting at the edge of the table so we dispersed to ourselves. I had the taco salad, the salad part had a good flavor but the shell was obviously manufactured somewhere else and it looked and tasted like cardboard. Never did anyone ask us if we wanted another drink, if we wanted dessert, nothing. Since we had to go to the bar ourselves, pass out the silverware ourselves, the waiter that took our order did not serve the food, he did not remove our empty plates , he also did not get anymore than a .75 tip and that was simply because I did not want to wait for my change. Summary, average food, poor service, overpriced drinks, average atomosphere. Nothing special to offer.…
GREAT food, excellent soup !.
Been stopping at the Box Bar for the last few years, and have always found the food to be top-notch. I've read some reviews about slow service, and while the staff is less than starch-collar, they
are very friendly and quick to deliver the food hot.
Menu selections are not Ruth's Chris, but they are decidedly well above anything that could be called bar food. Portions are huge. The soups are obviously made from scratch, always excellent. Get a bowl of soup if you plan to swim in it ! A cup is enough. Vegetable beef is fabulous, cheese soup is rich and very well made. Pulled pork sandwich is a must, comes on a huge onion roll with slaw on the side (go ahead, dump it on the sandwich). you'll have to use a fork for a while first, before you can pick this sandwich up.
All in all, the food is down-home-made, American, stick to your ribs GOOD.…
awful service. Kudos on the beer menu but that's about where the kudos stop. I recently walked into the box bar for lunch. The hostess sat my wife & daughter & I at a table. We sat for 20 minutes without any of the wait staff acknowledging our existence. They seemed as though they were intentionally avoiding eye contact. I said "excuse me" to one as she walked directly past our table and she acted as if nobody was sitting there or speaking to her. She apparently was too busy watching Fox news and tending to her "young country" haircut to earn a gratuity that afternoon. The place wasn't busy. we were one of 5 or 6 tables in the main area. If she was sizing me up she did very poorly. I'm a young guy but I do pretty well for myself. I've put in my time working in restaurants and I usually tip very well. 20 minutes without so much as a "hello, I'll be with you in a moment" from the wait staff is totally unacceptable--especially for overpriced bar food.…
great beer menue. This place is great(for non up tight types). If you are expecting the ritz, you wont find it, it is a bar and grill. Please don't expect more from it than what it is. It has a great beer menu that you can not find any where else. The food is pretty good as well.
