Not as good as Mexican Town. Salsa was runny and they don't believe in seasoning their beef. The steak fajita was cut too thick and was tough. They need to hire a real bartender that knows how to make a real drink. They don't have a bar but they do carry alcohol. I ordered a watermelon margarita and it tasted bitter and no flavor. Sent it back....YUCK. I rather spend my money in Mexican town.
Love this restaurant. This restaurant has the most delicious Mexican food, my wife and I love the chips and salsa. They are always friendly and the food is great. Get there early because they can get pretty busy on the weekends.
THE BEST MEXICAN FOOD EVER!. I have been going to mexican fiesta for about 15 years and i have yet to find a better mexican place! I go to the canton location and dearborn heights location- love them both! margaritas are the best and the food is outstanding, in my opinion you can't even compare it to other mexican restaurants in canton and the surrounding area. I think the prices are great, i order one chicken enchilada- get chips and salsa, the best coleslaw i have ever had, and beans with cheese and its under $5! that is a deal! i have gotten avacado there before and have never paid near $10 for it but i do get the small size which is plenty big. If you have not tried this place you HAVE TO GO! i would be very suprised if you are disapointed, i have never been. I always get hot food and good service. also, they have my favorite salsa!
Outrageous Guacamole. Used to love this restaurant until they had the gall to charge us $10 for a side of guacamole. This was more than the price of our meal. I will not eat here again and I will make sure that everyone knows how much they charged us. You can get an avocado at any grocery store for about $1.
Fabulous Experience!!!. Whoever said this food is not authentic, must not be mexican! If so, they would know that mexican food comes in many different ways (it's a big country...is there only one type of american food???). This place must be from the north, because it has all the comfort cowboy cooking I love! Not to mention, the amount of food per entree is amazing! Spend the extra money to get "Hot Chips", and save by ordering one entree to split.
The best food ever!.
I have been raised on this stuff! My family has been going to the Mexican Fiesta since only the Dearborn location existed. Once the Canton location opened, we've been here ever since!
This food is, by far, the best Mexican food around. I don't get where these nay-sayers are coming from, questioning the authenticity of this food????
This food IS AUTHENTIC!! If you don't think so, YOU ARE WRONG!....and evidently, not Mexican!
I am Mexican and this is as good as it gets! For those of you that think Chi-Chi's style food is authentic....you are way wrong!
The tacos, enchiladas, burritos, tostadas, rice and beans are just like my grandmother and my mother make them!
The tacos are crispy and filled with the juciest meat (beef or chicken), topped with lettuce, cheese and salsa- well, you've got one absolutely delicious taco!
When I eat the rice and beans, I feel like I am in my Mother's kitchen. Both the rice and beans are so moist, not dry, and flavored with just the right amount of spices.
The best enchilada, in my opinion, is the cheese and onion enchilada...this should be their signature item!
If you haven't visited this restaurant yet...you are in for a treat- go ahead and treat yourself!
My family and I are such dedicated customers- we're like extended family!
To the Mexican Fiesta....we love you!
awful.. just plain awful...STAY AWAY!. I am shocked that people loved this food. It is more of a Tex-Mex than anything else. The falvor is horrible and bland. Everything that was brough to our table was burned.. seriously.. It was the most horrible mexican food I had ever tasted. I would rather go to La Rositas on Mcgraw (far away!) then sepnd one thin dime on this horrible, horrible food... STAY AWAY
Good Sevice, bad food. My roommate and I went to this restaurant to try something new. Since the parking lot was packed, we expected it was going to be a great place to eat. However, their food a bit off from authentic. The "salsa" on the table was not salsa at all, but a sauce, and did not have authentic Mexican flavors to it. Also, I have never been to a Mexican restaurant where they served muenster cheese on anything, let alone chicken and cheese enchiladas. We were sadly disappointed by the lack of flavor and spice on the food. The service was great, but the food was far from impressive. We far prefer LaFuente in Ypsilanti, MI for more authentic (and delicious) food.
Great food, must read this review for the truth. I've been going to this resturant for at least 12 years. Let me tell you how to order your food if you don't want to pay for chips or if you don't want cole slaw. OK, Chips that are cold are free. If you want them warm, then there is a small charge. Some people don't like beans like myself, so they have an option. You have a choice of the 3. Or you can get double of whatever. So if you want rice and beans, just ask for rice and beans. If you want rice and cole slaw, ask for that. Or just double rice. Work it the way you would like it. My favorite order is the Chicken and Cheese Enchiladas. Wait staff is great. Complain if you would like about fries, but they are just being considerate by having that on the menu. Kids like fries.
Long-time reputation for good food. If you're used to Mexican Town or Xochi's, you might find Mexican Fiesta isn't as authentic. But, we like the old Detroit favorites and still enjoy Mexican Fiesta very much. For one thing, it's a very convenient location for us and the food is very good. Sure they have french fries, etc., on the menu, but if you've ever tried to take your family of five somewhere where the kids can get their french fries while the adults get something other than fries...well...you appreciate those choices a lot! We're fans of both locations--the one near Telegraph and the one in Canton. And, when you walk into Canton and there's a line...don't give up...they manage to get people in pretty quickly.
