Midwest Camera Repair is the BEST!. Dear Midwest-I just received my cameras yesterday afternoon, and so this morning I attached the lenses, fired them up, and oh boy, I AM SO HAPPY! You did a FANTASTIC job! I am going to copy this email and post it where I am able to leave reviews, because you deserve it! I will recommend you guys to everyone I know with a DSLR in need of repair or cleaning-thank you, thank you, thank you-and also thank you for being so quick to mail the cameras back as I am very close to busy wedding season...what wonderful customer service you have! I always try to do that in my own business, and I will tell you that it pays back in spades. Have a great summer of 2012!

They quote low and charge more when they have your gear.. I photograph for a living, my hotshoe on my canon 5d became loose and in a pinch I went to Midwest Camera Repair. They charged me $25 to look at it, then would quote me when they found the problem.

My quote via phone was $85 to fix the problem or $150 for them to clean it while they had the camera open. I asked if that was $85 plus $150 or just $85 or $150. They said or. I told them to goahead and clean it. Then I asked is that the total. "yes" so what is my total? "yes that is it."

When I came to pickup the Total was $260. Not $150. I stopped and said this is not the price you quoted me. I asked them to do the right thing.. they declined. So FIY consumers

These people are Crooks. Do not trust them with your gear, signup with canon's repair service not anyone else. I am writing this on the EL straight from Midwest to my next gig. They took advantage of my need for turnaround. I am promptly calling The Better Business, and City of Chicago to lodge my complaints. As well as the city mags who rate them, why because people take advantage of those who do nothing. Helping my fellow photogs just trying to make a living for their families.

Wonderful Customer Service. First off I read the other review and then asked around. My family has a love of photograophy and lo and behold my dad had taken his camera's there. So any way I called, the lady on the phone said she couldn't tell me over the phone what was wrong, but if I brought it there they would diognose the problem for free. I live in livonia, which is not too close to downriver, but I took the drive.I showed up at 1:00 pm and and the gal said she could fix the problem for 45$. I asked if there was any way they could fix it thaqt day. She asked the certified tech and he said he could. So I stayed downriver and about 1 hour later they called me and it was done. The price was 45$ and I could not be happier. If you have any camera problem and do not want to deal with best buy or another store that sends your camera off for months at a time , go to midwest in wyondotte.

Worst service ever. called them yesterday (Aug 17,09) and asked them how much to clean a sensor. I told them I had a spot that wouldn't come off, I had tried to clean it wet and dry, and I was pretty sure something was lodged under the glass. They quoted me $65. I know what it costs to repair cameras, and that seemed low, so I questioned her, telling her again I thought it was under the glass, and she said yes, it would be $65. Needless to say, I made the 45 minute drive that day. When I got there, they took my camera in back, and about 10 minutes later a different woman came out and told me I had something under the glass (duh!) and it would be a major repair, costing $180. I told her what I was quoted, and that I told them up front what the problem was. She simply said "Well, it's a major repair. He's not gonna fix it for $65." No apology, no nothing.

I've worked for a major camera retailer for over 20 years, and up to this point we had sent them a LOT of business. First thing I did when I got to work is pulled their card out of my Rolodex. I will no longer recommend them, and if customers ask, I will tell them to steer clear.

Needles to say, I will never be going back, either. I'll deal with pros from now on.
