In Short – Regarded as one of the best bakeries in the city, the Avalon Bakery originally opened with the intentions of selling breads only to restaurants. However, word of its delicious country Italian, Greektown olive, raisin pecan, scallion dill and focaccia breads spread quickly and swayed the intentions of the ownership to sell to the general public. Along with the famous breads, Avalon also bakes up scones, brioches, cinnamon rolls and cookies.

Procrastinating as usual, I called Avalon the morning of my friend's birthday hoping they could come up with something. No problem at Avalon -- they whipped up an awesome assortment of scones, cookies and muffins, very reasonably priced, were able to deliver it around lunchtime (essential for me since I live in New York!), and were super friendly throughout. My friend was thrilled, shared the sweets with her officemates, and everyone had a lovely afternoon. Oh, and she raved about the goodies -- quite tasty. Thanks Avalon!
- Pros: friendly service, tasty treats
