A dissappointment. Sadly, our last two visits there were a disappointment. The food was substandard and sadly the service was unattentive. Though the restaurant was almost empty I and our friends were removed from a booth which we were told was for five or more diners.

I have enjoyed the Cass Cafe for years but it seems as if it is slipping.

slow. Slowest service on earth. The food is alright but the service is so slow. It takes forerver. The atmosphere and crowd are different but they dont overcome the slow service.

Mostly young and hip crowd enjoy college fare.. In Short
Students, their teachers, artists, neighborhood people, Cass Cafe brings in a mostly young, mostly hip crowd, and some who used to be and still wanna. The decor is unexceptional, with ceilings that are high, not low and smoky, but don't miss the bathroom stall hardware, reminiscent of a medieval prison. Some would call the fare "college food": sandwiches on pita, croissants or bread; burgers of beef, turkey, tuna or lentil-walnut; chicken wings, smelts and shrimp.

User review by tomoltk. Hippies and hipsters, smoking and non-smoking, upstairs and downstairs, daytime crowd and nighttime crowd. Although it's near a college, I'd say the menu was a bit more sophisticated than the usual college fare and they have daily specials. No iceberg lettuce in your salads here! Always a hip crowd, art on the walls, and sometimes live music.
