In Short – Detroit's oldest gay bar, the Woodward, opened in 1951. And some patrons swear this is the best place to get a good burger, gay establishment or otherwise. The Woodward is a two-sided bar: On one side, friendly patrons sit in booths or pull up to a long bar that faces a mirror; on the other side, customers play pool or throw darts. Men and women are welcome, although the crowd tends to be predominately male.
