Editorial Review. The Detroit Institute of Arts is a museum of more than 100 galleries, an art reference library, a conservation services laboratory and more.

Ancient to Modern, it's all there. Whenever we visit the DIA, we see something that makes the trip worthwhile. The special exhibits and shows that come from time to time have been excellent and great for our kids too.

Love It. The DIA is a great place for anybody that likes to see lots of wonderful fine art of all different time periods and cultures, as you go through the galleries it's like walking through time. It also has a resturant on the first floor, a nice place to get a bite to eat either before a long day of enjoying the all the wonderful things to see - or after. I have even gone there by myself just to relaxe and get away. If you have never been to the DIA I recommend that you go-I believe you'll like it. Also, there is no charge but I pay something every time I go anyway, I would hate to see it closed like it was several years ago.

World Class. I visit art museums in different cities every chance I get and more often than not I walk away thinking "the DIA is much better than that". This museum is easily one of the top 10 art museums in the US (I would put it in the top 5) and is second only to the truly elite art museums of the world.

Great Impressionist Collection. Detroit is more likely to be characterized as a car and rock'n roll town, and there is nothing wrong with this perception. However, there is a thriving art scene which goes largely unnoticed. But an underground art scene does not make a great city, it is often times judged on the quality of its public art museums. The DIA will not disappoint the art enthusiast or the family looking for an enjoyable day in the city. Top notch!

great place. This is a good place to go to spend some time on the weekend, alone, with friends or with family. There is always something new to see, and always something that is permanently there to appreciate over and over. The food court is a nice place to take a rest, although the prices are a bit high.
