Best Oktoberfest Party Anywhere!.
What an awesome experience!! We drove down from the Flint area this past spring to experience some traditional German culture. What a treat. The food was excellent! The menu has an outstanding variety to pick from at very reasonable prices. The bar has a large selection of German beer along with a full complement of domestic products and mix drinks. The most enjoyable part of the visit however was the entertainment and atmosphere. Dave Slivinski from Frankenmuth was the band that played. They did a fantastic job of entertaining and provided a dinner theatre feeling to the eveining with a great combination of German and American music. In addition they had "accordion karaoke" with some guest vocalist from the audience and featured a 15 year old drummer that was awesome. We had such a great time that we went back a few weeks later and brought back some friends. The band was different, the Sorgebrechers played and also did a very good job playing German music.
During both visits, the service, food, and entertainment was excellent and would highly recommend visiting the Dakota Inn for an evening of fun especially during Oktoberfest season!!
Prost! Cheers!
Fun, Food, Great Drinks.
This is the kind of place where everyone really knows your name ... it's family-owned and it shows.
The singalongs are HILARIOUS! and make this place so much more than your typical German biergarten.
The food, in my opinion, is delish - especially the potato pancakes! If there is a heaven, those pancakes would be served on the buffet at every meal. Imported German beer and friendly service make this restaurant a must-do.
a german oasis. A great little bar/restaurant in a not so great area. German beer you won't find anywhere else at decent prices. Oktoberfest is crazy, make reservations very early if you can. same family has owned it since the 1930's
Come for the atmosphere not the food. The food here is very average. Greasy potato pancakes and a very small menu. Get the sausages, they are your best bet. However, I come here for the German music. This place gets crazy during Oktoberfest and the German bands are alot of fun. You will soon find yourself doing the chicken dance with everyone else. Make reservations and make sure you are in the main room or there is no point in going there because you cannot see the band otherwise. Good German beers and sometimes they bring in special kegs that only they can get! They are located in a slum, but have guarded parking.
great german vibe, ok food. This place looks just like a real German rathskeller inside, and it is a great place for beer and singalongs. I wanted to go for a long time because i love German food and had hoped for some really good spatzle. The food was good, but it wasn't what I was hoping for. I'm probably asking for to much. I will try again and order something different. They carry warsteiner and Spaten. Make reservations for weekends.
Thursday Night Singalong. GREAT Singalong on 3rd Thursdays of each month from 7 pm to 10 pm. Mostly golden oldies but some recent ones, too. Specializes on authentic German food.
