In Short – Established in 1946, this is the oldest continually non-religious cemetery in Detroit. Stop by the office for free maps and historical pamphlets outlining who is buried at Elmwood Cemetery and where. Prominent Detroiters, including 30 Detroit mayors stretching back to Lewis Cass, can be found. The oldest area of the cemetery is sectioned off into quadrants, which makes it easy to find graves.

A Wonderful Final Resting Place
by 59stiney at Citysearch
Had the misfortune of having to use their services after my mother's death. They were wonderful and caring. Had visited several cemeteries before we chose Elmwood. Could not be happier. It's beautiful, well maintained and the employees both in the office and the groundskeepers are pleasant and friendly.
- Pros: Workers are caring, sensitive and professional.
- Cons: None
