Swanson has heart!

Swanson Has Heart:

Compassion is their strongest point. From your comments,it would seem during this period you and your family missed some very important information while preparing for the service. It was explained to our family that if we desired to go to the grave site for committal or if we wanted to view the lowering of the coffin, there are specific expenses associated with these services both from the mortician and the cemetary. The service itself is as long as your family planned and by the performace of its participants. If all you had was a prayer, a song, a scripture and a eulogy,it really takes very little time. It seems like you and your family just didn't understand the total process etc. Now that I can hold them responsible for. The expression that there is another service planned would be truthful as Swanson, does provide service to the total community, families that have the ability to handle the costs, those who have very limited ability ,as well as those who have no resources. So its not a matter of making money, its a matter of taking care of families. I'm sure if they knew of your feelings they would be distressed as their goal is to service the family during this trying time, Not to upset them even more.

Funeral Experience with Swanson's

My experience was just ok! My father passed away, and we too were rushed through the process. He was being viewed then cremated, however the funeral planner tried selling me a higher casket with a special seal. I asked why would we need that if he were being cremated? I requested a cheaper cremation casket, but was told that I could not get one because that would take me out of their per package prices.

The day of the funeral about 30-minutes into the service someone on staff began flickering the light switch to signal us to wrap up the service, yet we were told we'd have an hour. Weeks after the service I received an additional bill from Swanson for $360 stating that my original invoice was incorrect. My advise is even though you are grieving over your loss, get everything in writing and let them know after you sign the funeral agreement that you will not pay a penny more, and be on your p's and q's because they will take advantage. They did a great job on my father, but need more patience and understanding especially due to the nature of their business and the public they serve.

Don't Do It - It Ain't Worth It!

My experience with Swanson Funeral Home on March 15, 2008 was horrible. The staff was not professional or sympathetic to my family in mourning. We were given a 9:30 timeslot. Our service only lasted about 25-30 minutes yet we were rushed and asked to leave quickly because they had another service coming after us. We were rushed and not able to use even an hour worth of time, which was the indicated time slot. After the service we were asked to line up and do the car processional line. Once we got to the cemetery we were not told that we weren't going to be able to see our loved one lowered into her burial plot. We were lead to a room where we were told was her final resting place and that Swanson was taking over. Our family was there all of five minutes fellowshiping with our family and friends when we were told we needed to say our goodbyes and leave the grounds quickly, again because, "We have another service coming." There was no compassion or professionalism at all. I would not recommend Swanson Funeral Home to anyone. With all the money a family pays for a funeral you would think that they would be glad to get the business and be a bit more friendlier and understanding.

Very Porfessional

Mr. Swanson recently handled funeral arrangements for my grandmother who passed on September 4, 2005. His caring and dedicated staff were very professional and courteous to my family during this trying time. We have doing business with the Swanson Funeral Homes, Inc. since 1977, and I would reccomend this funeral home to anyone who's lost a loved one and wants the very best in professional and courteous service. Mr. Swanson and his staff make sure that everyting is done in detail according to your wishes and need. They are with you all the way.........from the arranging of the funeral to after the funeral is over.....they will always keep in touch. That's why they are
