The first Mexican seafood restaurant in Detroit..
In Short
A brilliant mural outside beckons with bright fish. An alluring mermaid who looks remarkably like Selena graces one wall. Service is friendly if idiosyncratic; dishes (and silverware) are brought one at a time. The chefs grill tilapia, red snapper (huachinango), cod, catfish and shrimp and they marinate raw snapper in lime juice to make ceviche. Quesadillas of fish or shrimp and octopus, with mozzarella. Ceviche is as fresh as an ocean breeze.
Hidden Treasure. This place is truly a hidden treasure. Inside this modest storefront, with the vinyl and metal chairs and formica tables is some of the best seafood. Go there and enjoy!
Freshest Seafood in Detroit!. Don't let the cheesy decor fool you into thinking your meal will be anything short of spectacular. Rincon Taraxco is indeed a "little hideaway" among the neighborhoods of Southwest Detroit, but the food takes you directly to the Pacific Coast of Mexico! Enjoy just shucked shellfish and the freshest seafood you'll ever see and you'll be convinced that this is a hideaway worth seeking out!
