On weekends, families line up for a table in the basement of this historic Hamtramck restaurant. PVC serves up the city's best Old-World cuisine--think juicy kielbasa, crisp potato pancakes and moist pierogi. Prices are family-friendly, though those on a health kick are out of luck (many entrees are decadently starchy and fried). The Polish plate is the perfect sampler for a first visit.

Everything here is fried in animal lard. From the golbaki, to the stuffed peirogis. Hence, why it tastes sooooo good. It's even put into the soups.

This is not a lie people. We were seated back near the kitchen area, just past the bar. We were sat probably by that rude waitress from the review below, since she had no knowledge of the "list" thing. We sat down, and given wet menus. Upon opening my friend found a crushed, dead coockrooach behind the plastic....that is all I have to say. He did not eat...and I stuck with the Zivietz beer.

After waiting in line for over an hour, one of the waitresses made a mistake with the list of names for seating. Instead of seating our party of five, she broke up a group of seats and made them into a few smaller tables, then called out 2 names for groups who had been waiting less than 15 minutes. Apparently she grabbed the wrong list of names. When called out on her mistake, she did nothing to rectify the error, not even an apology. Two groups behind us who had been waiting for a long time walked out. When I asked her where we were on the list, she snapped, "I don't know anything about the list. Whatever." Needless to say, we took our party of five elsewhere and don't plan on ever going back.
