Would not return. Broken chairs, slow service, high prices, no meat pierogi (out of it on an empty saturday) - unfriendly. Disappointing. Should have gone to Polish Village.
The best Polish food in Hamtramck. The best Polish food in a city of Polish food. Try the dill pickle soup, the potato pancakes and the pierogi. Inexpensive, fast, delicious.
Was OK. Under the Eagle has good diner food in a comfortable atmosphere. Everyone in your group will be able to find something they like and everyone will leave satified.
That's good polish restaurant. Everything you get here is home-style and good quality. Come here when you're hungry for mom's cooking and can't get home. Try the pierogis, noodles, borscht.
Best Polish Restaurant (much better than Polish Village). This restaurant has the freshest and tastiest Polish food. The parking is bad in that you have to park further away. But the food and beer make it worth it. I tried Polish Village and it was the nastiest thing I have ever tasted. Under the Eagle is the place to be. The waitresses are gorgeous too and very friendly and outgoing. I highly recommend it! The dill pickle soup is phenomenal. Also, it is the oldest Polish restaurant in Hamtramck, as I have found out--around for 34 years I believe. You will love it, trust me!
Last time. was really good. Food was excellent and waitress was perfect in every detail. There is only one problem- parking.
This restaurant is for those who want to eat like their Polish grandma without spending hours in the kitchen..
In Short
In a tiny brick building on Hamtramck's main drag, Under the Eagle is unpretentious and family-friendly. Friendly immigrants in embroidered blouses and aprons make up the waitstaff, and they're welcoming to the non-Polish first-timer. The Polish combination plate includes savory kielbasa, applesauce blintzes, potato and cottage cheese pierogis, sauerkraut, mashed potatoes with gravy and stuffed cabbage with mushroom gravy. Bright pink beet soup is huge, rich, delicious. Stuffed pork chops are double-thick.
Average. When going to this restaurant, it was somewhat disappointing. The food was alright, but compared to others in the town of Hamtramack I would recommend Polish Village Cafe a lot more because of better service and prices, and more food for the price.
