Great Pizza.
We often come back to Michigan to visit and we always make the trip to the Buddy's location in Detroit. Year after year this restaurant continues to provide an outstanding pizza.
In fact, when we are in the mood for a great pizza while at home in Washington, we have one air freighted out to us. This location still makes the best Buddy's pizza.
the original!. You gotta go here. So much more distinctive than the suburban Buddy's around the area. The pizza is worthy of its high acclaim, and if nothing else, you'll see the point of origin of a Detroit institution. The location may be out of your way, but at least they provide parking; it's also within a few minutes of Hamtramck and a busy corridor of Conant to the south. Always an interesting place to visit.
A motor city institution, Buddy's introduced square deep-dish pizza to Detroit..
In Short
Buddy's is a Detroit institution ("since 1946"). It's loud and family-friendly, with TVs everywhere, and serves distinguished, if not risky, pizza; the furthest away from traditional it gets is the gourmet vegetarian pizza with cauliflower and broccoli. The unusual crust is one reason Buddy's delights; it's barely there and yet crisp as can be. A wide range of fried appetizers, homemade soups, burgers, sandwiches and pastas is also available.
Best Homemade Pizza in state,Friendly atmosphere, nice employees,GREAT PIZZA,PASTA AND SALADS.
BUDDYS PIZZA is a wonderful place to go to eat.I have been eating and visiting Buddys for over thirty years. I know from personal experience all the items they use are fresh,They make the pizza's from scratch. I know i worked there nearly 28 years ago..The new items are aslo good on thier menu,I love the super Pizza,,,also the cheese, pep,and mushroom,,mmmmmmmmmm. My favorite salad is the Greek, and Ceasar salad, and of course the Antipasto salad with the secret recipe,,made by a little italian lady(Connie). She is gone now but her dressing is still a reminder that she once worked there.
Buddys go out of there way to help people plan partys,,they have two rooms available for private partys.I'd like to also add that the owner of the resturaunt,Robert Jacobs, does a lot of charitable activities,
years ago,,
all fresh and Delicious, alot of good people have worked at Buddys throu the years and alot of them are
SADLY MISSED. Upon moving from Detroit to Tennesse over 20 yrs. ago we have been in search of a good pizza. We have tried many and nothing comes close to Buddys. Detroiters and those in surrounding areas please count your blessings!! I only wish they had a system of shipping the pizzas out state. A trip to Buddys is never missed when we visit!! Again sadly missed!!!!!
Buddy's. Great place to eat, have been eating there for over 30 years,I also go to the Buddy's at 13 mile and Van Dyke. Their pizza is like none I've eaten before. I brought my daughter up on their pizza and now that's the only kind she and my two Grand-kids will eat. She moved up North and when I go to visit I have to buy two Supremes and take them up with me.
Excellent. I've been going to Buddy's in Detroit since I was a teenager. My late parents wouldn't go anywhere else for pizza! I still live in Detroit, and close enough to Buddy's to go as often as I'd like! I always recommend this place to my friends.
Buddy's is Best. This was the best pizza when I was a kid growing up in the Detroit area, it remained the best when I was a young man in college--when no trip to Tiger Stadium was complete without a visit to Buddy's either before or after the game--and it is still the best pizza. I never visit Detroit without visiting Buddy's.
Overrated!!!. For the price you pay, you'd think this was the best pizza in the world. I'm here to say IT'S NOT!! The service is slow, the pizza is cold, and the sauce is boreing to the taste buds. They have been getting by on reputation alone. Once these people start trying other pizza in town they will soon relize that they have been dup'ed by Buddy's.
Detroit Pizza is underrated.
I have lived in both New York and Chicago and have heard rave reviews about the pizza from those cities.
Personally, nothing compares to Buddy's (and Shield's) pizza in Detroit. I don't know what the problem is with Detroit - it just doesn't seem to know how to get the word out about its finer features.
The pizza is so good that a woman in Knoxville, TN - when hearing that I had lived in Detroit, exclaimed (without prompting) "Ohhhh - my boyfriend is from there and I visited - BUDDY'S PIZZA!" (We weren't even discussing restaurants.)
It's just that good!
