Editorial Review for Lafayette Coney Island – by Andy Olesko
In Short
Gaudy orange formica tables and matching chairs conjure images of '70s style. This place isn't about frills, it's about giving people simple choices for lunch or dinner during the rush of a business day, and providing a late-night stop to complete an evening of fun in the downtown area. Coney-inspired dishes are the only choices here. The traditional Coney dog is made with mustard and onions. Chili, hamburgers and chili dogs come with fries.

Every detroit father should make this coney his son's/daughter's first. From the simplistic decor to the fast, friendly service Lafayette Coney is a detroit icon that reigns over all others. Best dogs, best chili, the best. I wish i was eating one right now!
Pros: uber-awsome coney dogs
Cons: has to share the block with infearior coney dog operation.

My taste for hotdogs... I go to Lafayette for coneys, and Hippo's for chicago style. The chili is spectacular.
Pros: food
Cons: parking, dirty dishes
