Very friendly atmosphere and great service. Three of us ate an early dinner at Plaka yesterday. The owner & manager were really friendly, our server was terrific and the food was good ("nothing to write home about", but perfectly fine).
Good Cap of the night Spot. When your downtown, out clubbing and had a little too much to drink. Come here to settle your stomach down from all the liquor. Right in greektown, you can leave the club and wander over here, get you some good ole coney island dishes the drive back home and get some good sleep in. Perfect night cap.
Breakfast served 24 hours a day across the street from the Greektown Casino..
In Short
This mom and pop diner remains thoroughly intact and the food remains unpretentiously good. Breakfast, served 24 hours, is a specialty. The rest of the menu includes a diverse selection of sandwiches and traditional Greek fare. Pancakes are fluffy and filling. A selection of omelets caters to the fickle tongue with selections for meat lovers as well as vegetarians.
Plaka sucks. I ordered a rueben twice from there. Both times it was cold and both times i sent it back and it was microwaved. I ate it the first time cuz i was so hungry, but the second time i just said take it off the bill. I will never go back there.
