In Short – At the corner of Brush and Congress in Detroit's Bricktown is an old-fashioned biergarten. The bar is tiny, so patrons may find themselves sitting elbow-to-elbow between people they've never met before, from hard-drinking work buddies to German grannies. It's all the better for bonding over some lager and schnitzel. The menu strikes a nice balance between traditional German and contemporary American.

100 year old classic

by rickge1

This is a small very old bar with decent bar food and a great beer selection on tap and in botttles. They used to have the most intensly hot wings, but the last time I went they were not the same (I hope it was just an off night). The food is mostly bar related, try their sausages but skip the greasy potato pancakes. Good service and an authentic comfortable atmosphere make this a great place for a drink after work. Don't forget the peanuts in the shell at the bar.

  • Pros: 100 years old, Beer selection, Very hot wings
  • Cons: Small

What's better than a big beer selection?

by spidersva

What a great bar with German character and beer in a great location! The German beer selection is unparalleled, the German food was all excellent (we only had apps- the potato pancakes were delicious), and the ambience was perfect.

  • Pros: German beer selection, Local character
  • Cons: A bit smokey
