A bright V-shaped restaurant with red tables contrasts with the humble menu at this favorite spot. During the day, the crowd is on-the-go business people in need of a quick bite; late night it's the downtown crowd in search of some nourishment after a night of letting loose. The usual suspects: chili, coney burgers and dogs share the menu with Greek and taco salads and the soup of the day.

What, are you NUTS? This place ROCKS!!! I won't go ANYWHERE ELSE for my coneys with Greek Salad and/or coney fries. This is the best dog you can find, open at ANY TIME!! NO WONDER Emeril chose THIS coney island (and NOT the one next door) for his "Best of" list!

My wife and I visited the American Coney Island for the first time and had a ball. The service was fantastic and the food was excellent. We were impressed by the cheerful decor and overall cleanliness. Next time we're in the "D", the American Coney will be our first stop.

Found out about these guys while watching Bobby Flay's show. This is the original coney island! So while I was in Detroit I had to check it out. Two "Specials" and I knew why they get the highest rating. Three thumbs up for the best Coney
