In Short – Within walking distance from Comerica Park, this burger joint merges the worlds of Joe Hamburger Eater and Pierre Art Connoisseur. Lit-up glass bar and granite tables give a contemporary feel. The original lunch and dinner menu from the Birmingham location carries over (sliders with onions, cheeseburgers), with some additions. Grilled sandwiches and a healthy selection of salads are also offered. Floats and malts are available.

Worst Service Ever Received

by metrognome77 at Citysearch

Food is great but god-awful service. Not sure if any of the wait staff was ever trained, or if they were all just pulled off the street from somewhere. Regardless, my bill came to 15.58 my debit card was charged 58.78 + 15.58 for our bill. Apparently I was picking up the tab of a neighboring table of 5 (it was only me and my co-worker at my table). I asked the waitress what was going on since she left me several cc receipts, with the other tables charges on my card and our charges on my card. She said, she had taken care of it and it should be fine. I spoke with the manager who blamed the problem on technology, I said, actually you are at fault here, your waitress falsely charged my card. She still took no responsibility and claimed, the card would only be authorized, not charged. I asked for our 15.58 charge to be refunded, so that I could just pay cash. I was told it was, even though, I received no proof (they claimed they couldn't provide any). 5 days later, two charges show up on my credit card statement. I'm in the middle of a Beter Business Bureau dispute right now. Don't go here.

Bad Experience in Detroit

by jane_doe22822 at Citysearch

Our office went to Hunter House for lunch (party of 6). We waited over a half an hour for our food to get to us, keep in mind these are sliders, french fries, onion rings and a salad, we seen other parties getting their food before us that came in after us. When our food finally came, it wasn't very warm, in fact, the chili cheese fries were cold, one person still had to wait almost another 10 minutes for his hamburger, the meat in two different people's hamburgers was bad (one of them being the guy who had to wait the extra 10 minutes to get it). The owner (well I think it was), came over and took the burgers right away and had new ones made with new meat. Then one of the gals ordered a salad which comes in a large bowl with a tiny bowl of salad dressing. She asked for two extra. She got them, they were in even smaller bowls and they charged her for them - for both of them. It's not about the 50 cents, it's about getting enough dressing for your salad. I made a comment to someone that works there about the dressing and they said the chef insists on charging for it and when she tries to get away without charging, he doesn't let her. They did take the charge for the bad burgers off the bill but that was it. The waitress was very apologetic about the bad burgers. Wow, what an experience . . . overall, it was very bad. We will not be eating there anytime soon, actually never again. (The waitress' service was good, chef's service bad.)

  • Pros: Good Atmosphere-Good Waitress
  • Cons: Bad Service by Chef-Took Over 30 mins. to get Food-Food Cold & Bad Meat

What a Gem!

by rubio at Citysearch

I've heard they are well known for their burgers, but the cuisine was outstanding. We dined on the patio and had great service. We had 3 different fancy appetizers of lamb, polenta and salmon. The lamb one in particular with its asian influenced flavors was awesome. For entrees, one of my friends had a shrimp/pasta dish but my other friend and I had the chef recommendations of sea bass and scallops respectively. They were both so fresh, sweet and tender we were amazed and the sauces that accompanied our seafood dishes rocked. The french chefs have nothing on this restaurants chef. I guess the menu changes seasonally with some staples always on hand. I'm looking forward to trying the famous burgers but some of the rest of the menu items as well. Very reasonably priced and right around the block from greek town in the new Hilton Garden Inn hotel.
