THE BEST CHINESE IN GROSSE POINTE (AND MICHIGAN). Golden Dragon is simply the best.

I eat Chinese food all over the USA (and several

foreign countries) - Golden Dragon ranks with the best.

The spicy food is tasty - but the milder dishes my wife prefers are also delicious. We have eaten there since they opened - never had anything less than a wonderful meal.

Prettiest Chinese restaurant in Metro Detroit.. In Short
Golden Dragon has maintained a quiet dignity for several years. The interior is spacious and laid out in a welcoming fashion. A large, tasteful Chinese mural hangs on the wall of the larger dining area. The smoking and non-smoking areas are separated by a handsome, black-lacquer bar. Traditional Chinese food without pulling any punches: pork, chicken, shrimp or vegetables served with either rice or noodles and topped with sweet-and-sour sauce or brown sauce.

Best Chinese Around. I am new to the Pointes, having moved from New York, and I have only tried about 6 Chinese restaurants in Metro Detroit but Golden Dragon is by far the best I have found. I have not yet dined in, but the restaurant itself seems to be one that provides for a very traditional and somewhat dark atmosphere without the strip mall feeling or absurd trendiness of horrible Chinese restaurants. The sesame chicken is wonderful, combining just the right amount of crispiness and a wonderful deep maroon colored sauce, spciy but not too spicy to the point of tasting like buffalo wings (i.e. Golden Chopsticks), and not overly red or orange like you get at an inferior restaurant.

Forget about Moy's and Golden Chopsticks, try Golden Dragon. It should be placed high on the list best Chinese restaurants for 2004.
