i too attended Oakland Christian Church for several years. i have since left the church because of the following reasons: 1. The church's financial statement that was shared with the congregation once yearly was VERY vague. Most churches announce the tithe offerings weekly or monthly and also their debt load. Why the secrecy? 2. The addition to the church is 4 years past the original date of estimated completion. Why did the Pastor ask for 68,000K in 14 days from the congregation to settle a court dispute? Is this biblical stewardship? 3. Why have the associate pastor and youth pastor recently left the church for other positions? 4. Why is there a VERY high turnover of people at Oakland Christian? 5. Why are we seeing so many of Oakland Christian's church congregation at other churches in the area? 6. Why are they losing so many church members? 7. Why if Oakland Christian is practicing biblical stewardship is the pastor and associate pastor living such a expensive lifestyle while the church additon is left uncompleted? 8. The senior Pastor is a member at Westwynd/Wyndgate country club. 9. Why does Oakland Christian Church allow misuse of tongues when there is not an interpreter 90% of the time? Why does the Pastor allow that the entire congregation speak in tonuges simutaneously when the bible clearly states otherwise? 10. Why does the Pastor preach prosperity, when the addition is left unfinished but His $650,000 home is complete? who has been prosperous? the church? 11. After leaving Oakland Christian Church, I felt totally used and disillusioned. 12. Please use good biblical reasoning if you decide to visit this church.

Hi, I just wanted to respond to the last review by concerned Christian, I believe you may be misinformed about the finances of the pastor and assistant pastor and of Oakland Christian church. I am aware that the assistant pastor has another job he works that pays him very well, and I know he gives a tithe to the church and their ministry. My understanding is that the main pastor also derives much of his income from personal business sources other than the church. Both these men are great men of God and conform to Biblical stewardship of church finances. However, this is my understanding, and I do not intend to speak for them, and would suggest that if you have concerns you should just talk to them personally rather than making such a public, damaging post online. We are the body of Christ, and need to work together in unity and not divide others.
