Editorial Review for Kensington Metropark – by Citysearch Editors

Overview
More than 4,300 acres of wooded and hilly terrain centered around Kent Lake, this park is open year-round. Boating and canoeing, fishing, picnicking, golfing, hiking and biking are just a handful of the activities available. Large- and smallmouth bass, walleyes and bluegills are some of the potential catches for fishermen. For those who like to swim, beach houses have food bars, dressing rooms, coin lockers and first-aid facilities. Hayrides and sleigh rides are offered on weekends.

Beautiful out of the way park, some things to do: 8 mile paved path around kent lake, petting farm you can buy duck and goose eggs even chickens, resturaunt, hay rides, nature trails, nature center, Golf, several playgrounds, MANY BBQ grills, 2 beaches w/concessions, boathouse/rentals, Ferry, firework display. The park is 2-3 dollars admission, free during the off season. This place has always been a family tradition, every summer we go a few times. During my Highschool cross country years we would run the loop for practice, lots of hills so be prepared. Ther are 3 parks close by that allow for camping and canoe's.

Pros: 30 min. from city, lots of wild life, inexpensive

Cons: 30 min from city, crowded holidays

This is a great park! The trails around the park are wonderful for walking, biking, or rollerblading but don't forget your helmets - they don't mess around! The beaches are nice and there are plenty of picnic areas with grills. Families - including pets, will have a great time
