Hey i love this place the food is excellent. I was there this past saturday with few of my colleagues. We visited the auto show. Took the free shuttle that they offer. I love buffalo wings and I had my share, but these have to be the Best friggin chicken wings I ever tasted in my life. They were reasonably priced. I'm going to make this my regular spot when i'm looking for some good eats

I also suggest all you readers do the same. I'm typing this and planning on going down there later for lunch. Oh boy am i hungry. ; )

Filing A Complaint due to worst dining experience. Several things transpired, transforming a pleasant dining experience into an appalling impression of the evening at Sweet Water Tavern. The bartender was rude, childish, blatantly (and directly) disrespectful, heavily intoxicating and frequently used vulgar sexual language to my cousin and I. He refused to let my cousin know what was in her drink, he verbally attacked us for our opinion of a music artist, and then he told us to pay our bill and leave and became upset when I took the tip (which he didn't deserve but it is common courtesy to tip so) back off the counter, he continued to verbally attack us as we left the establishment. All of this occurred within 35, 40 minutes all under the supervision of management. Nothing was done to come to our aide and I was stunned, the craziest part is that we remained calm throughout the whole situation constantly asking him to calm down and please lower his voice, as well as letting him know his behavior was immature, unnecessary, and disrespectful. I am going to reach the top of the ladder to have this misfortune rectified. I wish things could have occurred differently.

Great tip from local! Had great food!. Found this place by our hotel after a local suggested it to us! Some of the best wings I've had! I got the wings and rib combo and both were superb! Wings were meaty and well-flavored. For those of you used to going to places w/ dozens of sauces to choose from - you do not get that choice here - but we didn't care because it was great!

Two others in our party got pitas - and they loved it too!

Will definitely go back next time I am in downtown Detroit!

Spielman (previous poster) - Not so fast, my friend!. In response to Spielman's review: You are obviously one of the competitors coming on here to bash this place. Speaking from residential experience, your racial review couldn't be further from the truth. One of my good friends makes the trek to Sweetwater on a weekly basis (by himself I might add) because he likes it so much. Oh, and here's the zinger, Spiel - he's a mid-60's white guy! Go figure, eh?

I'm actually making my virgin conquest to this establishment to watch some football this afternoon - I'll drop back by and give an honest, unbiased review afterwards. Cheers :)

Best Wings/Ribs anywhere. Best wings anywhere in the world. I was introduced to Sweetwater by my younger sister after an evening with the ladies down to Chene Park for a concert. To my surprise I am hooked. The food is great and it reminds me of an black version of "CHEERS". The service is sometimes undesirable however, the food is so good that I just overlook it considering the place is cramped and the waitresses are doing the best they can with limited space. When the service was slow due to the cook, she made an apology for them and tried to make it up to us. My 22 yr. old son is now a Sweetwater fan and vows to bring his college friends from Ann Arbor down to enjoy the wings and ribs too. I need to end now or I might make a 40 minute drive today on my only 1hr lunch for some wings.

Whites not welcome. If you've ever seen animal house, then you are familiar with the Dexter Lake Club. This is the Detroit version. The bartender had his back to us, saw us off the bar mirror, and never turned around. It was like a anti-staring contest. We sat there for 10 minutes, and the place was dead silent confused by the presence of white guys. A look around made it clear that we were not going to be served. That's fine, I'm sure the owners/patrons feel they have carved out a spot for themselves, so be it. There were plenty of options. Head to Jacoby's next door, or any other number of bars a block or two over (Beaubien St.) or just further west of the river (Shillelagh, Marilyn on Monroes, Forans).
