After reading some of the reviews on Citysearch, I decided to book an app. with Jenny (I thought it was really cool that she had been in Allure, not gonna lie). I had been to Alex Emilio's before and liked their work (and their manicurist), but I had been living in Ann Arbor and it was just too far. Also, I like trying different salons (I have been to Bashar, Bitonti, Aqua, etc.) After moving to R.O., I was just down the street. Why go all the way to Birmingham when a great salon is a mile away? It was my first time meeting Jenny and she was really nice and accommodating. She asked me a couple of times if she could get me any water or wine (Alex Emilio's gets an A + for offering wine). My hair request was really simple - cut and color. I wanted something low maintenance since I'll be studying all summer. I had been thinking bangs might be fun, but Jenny brought up a good point and said they would be falling in my eyes all the time. I appreciate her input because I know I would have been sitting here right now thinking to myself "I should've gotten bangs!" She gave me great color. My hair is shiny and just as dark as I hoped it would be. (A lot of salons that I've been to don't even know how to reach that color without going black or making your roots red somehow.) Her assistant gave me a relaxing shampoo/massage and the cut was done quickly and expertly. Both Jenny and her assistant blew out my hair and I was out the door in 1 1/2 hours (still had 20 minutes on the meter). The price was totally reasonable. I'll definitely go back to Jenny. She's super professional and the end result (the whole reason you get your hair done) is fab. Don't go to those other salons that charge just as much to give you a Midwest nightmare of a hair style. Alex Emilio's is trendy and they know how to make you look good. I'm interested to see what I'll end up with next time (I think the mark of a good stylist is being able to change it up).
Pros: Cool hair.
Cons: Salon vibe seemed a little off.
