This is a brand new oslo, with new owners keep in mind. The restaurant is spotless and the staff was top notch. We had a spicy tuna roll, a yellowbelly roll a dynamite roll and a tempura shrimp with salmon (the last 2 were so big we had to cut them in half) and 4 pieces of nigiri. The tuna nigiri was the best I have ever had, top quality. The dynamite and tempura rolls were so big they were actually like getting 4 rolls. The sauces were fantastic. The prices were amazing, if you consider the size it was like 6 rolls and 4 pieces of nigiri and the wine was resonably priced as well. Dinner and drinks for 2 for 60$, not bad at all especiaaly considering we ordered premium items. The staff was so kind. The sushi chef actually came from behind his station to check each table and make sure everything was to their liking. You have a new regular in me.

  • Pros: Fantastic food, impecccable service, resonable prices. The staff actually cares
  • Cons: Not a thing.

Loved it, loved it, loved it! My sister & I work in Downtown & she suggested we go there for lunch. Not only was it the best sushi, everyone was so nice, friendly, and very clean. I'm a bit of a germaphobic that goes along with my serv/safe certification, so I always worry about going out to eat at restaurants. My first thought as I walked in was, WOW, it was absolutely beautiful inside! I have worked Downtown since Jan '08 and it always seems to amaze me of the wonderful places Detroit has to offer. The food I tried had several different types of sushi on it & when the pleasantly nice waitress served it, it looked too pretty to eat. She suggested a Japanese beer that went great with it. I would highly recommend this restaurant, and I do to anyone that ask me when I'm walking Downtown. GREAT food, BEAUTIFUL setting, CLEAN restaurant, a FREINDLY staff, & all in the heart of the truly underestimated DOWNTOWN DETROIT!!!

  • Pros: Beautiful interior

This is one of the more fun places I have been to in Detroit. Young Hip crowd, fantastic sushi, and real chill house beats downstairs on week nights, weekends bring out the heavy dancers!! DJs are awesome if you know what you're talking about. A+ Oslo!

  • Pros: house and sushi

Oslo is under new management as of Dec 07 and is once again an awesome place to go. The live music and DJ's are always good. Never a dull time at Oslo these days!

This restaurant has a unique ambiance w/ the square halogen lighting & dark architecturally interesting wood walls. They have a nice selection of martini's and delicious sushi! The Seared Yellowfin Tuna is the best I've ever had, the salmon nageri is so flavorful & tender - you can bite right through it too - no stringy cartlidge that you might get with some sushi places! The also offer a great variety of rolls & specials. There's also a bar in the basement where you can try some unique saki martinis. Space is limited in the restaurant, so either make a reservation or prepare to wait a little bit on a weekend night. Definitely worth checking out!

  • Pros: Seared Yellowfin, Salmon Negri, Ambiance & martini's
  • Cons: Parking, small interior.

There aren't many places where you can have sushi while listening to world class DJs spinning techno and other forms of electronic music until 4 in the morning.

  • Pros: unique, stylish, new

what you will get at oslo is a vibe unlike any other place in metro detroit: have a glass of wine & chill. its a great space, good music, decent food, beautiful people. just like any other city in the world, its a city-reataurant. Dont expect it to be typical or expect to eat the greatest sushi you've ever had. If you're looking for a group of happy cheerios in an aprons head someplace else: a steakhouse, or family restaurant. this place is perfect for meeting a couple friends for a cocktail, maybe a little snack without dropping big cash. I've eaten there alone, and taken a few different groups of friends, and every time we've had good, fresh sushi.

  • Pros: unique space, inexpensive, good looking crowd

OSLO is the hippest corner of Detroit I've yet to stumble into. Not "hip" as in "we are and you aren't", but "hip" as in "get in the door and be absorbed, absolved & activated". What does that mean? Well I'm not telling. Go check it out yourself and develop your own smug synopsis.

  • Pros: Dim lights, Strong drinks, Damn fine Sushi

I can't speak for the food, but I sure can speak for the customer service! I live outside of the Washington D.C. area, and had ordered a gift certificate for a friend's birthday who lives in Detroit, who claimed to have loved the sushi. I had paid a few extra dollars to have the gift cerificate delivered in 2 days. Well, it's a month later, and I have received nothing! Nor have my 11 phone calls been returned from the owner. At this point, all I want is to be reimbursed for the card, and I can't seem to speak to the owner about resolving this. Every time I call, he is busy, and a message gets taken, promising me that he will call back. Still waiting...what a ridiculous business they are operating!

i was not impressed with oslos sushi what so ever. i have been eating sushi for about 6 years now and i must say it was among the worst sushi i have had. as a side note they do not serve hot saki. i suggest finding another place for sushi.

  • Pros: great looking inside.
  • Cons: bad sushi, no hot saki
