The days when this was the place to be in Royal Oak are long gone. They have knocked down one too many walls and have lost all the appeal that the original place had-like a friendly place to hang out. Stopped in there before a comedy show at Ridley's...overpriced drinks, pompous attitude (doorman? give me a break), and the food is about 20% overpriced as well. While they have the pool tables and TV's and all there's something missing-an identity. There's nothing there that makes you want to come back, just location and with so many other choices even that isn't enough. Entertainment coupon may make it worth the stop but drink water and get out quick. Shame.
Pros: Location (I'm scrambling now)
Cons: Overpriced, no real atmosphere

This was one of the worst dining experiences I have ever had. I order a burger without mushrooms, and it came with mushrooms and nothing else. I informed the waiter and he sent it back to the kitchen and told me "I wrote it down right", and offered no apology. A new burger came 10 minutes later, this time without mushrooms and now the bacon was missing. 10 minutes later, I was able to flag down the waiter and I informed him about the wrong order and his reply was "Why did you wait until now, I've been by twice." In fact, he had not been by twice, but had walked past the table a few times to other tables he was waiting on, never saying a word to us even though I was trying to get his attention. He brought a bowl of bacon and walked off. As he was walking off, we asked to speak to a manager and then he said that he would try to comp my burger. He brought the receipt saying he had comped the burger, but it was still on the bill. We told him and without a word he took the bill and came back later with the new bill. We told him that the experience had been pretty poor and he responded "I know" and laughed. On the way out we talked to the manager, and he said that the next time we we're there to remind him and that "our order would be perfect". There wont be a next time though. This was a horrible experience and I would highly recommend not going here.

NEVER again! I used to play softball for Mr.B's years ago in Rochester when the owners used to understand the meaning of customer service. Food was ok, but the prices of the drinks were outrageous! When I complained to the manager, (I use that term losely) he was condescending, and rude. He actually used the excuse that "this was Royal Oak". So what? I live in Ferndale and boy am I glad to have the option of going out to lunch in my city without paying $50 for a meal! Don't waste your time or money. Kristin
Cons: bad service, bad prices, bad manager

Service & food were good and my friends & i were enjoying the experience until the bill came. We were appaled that the price of a 16 oz draft beer (Bass Ale) was $6.50 and that a bottle of Michelob was $3.75 and a diet coke $2.25. We asked to speak with the Manager who made us feel unwelcome and unrealistic that we should complain about the prices since it is Royal Oak. I don't care if it is Beverly Hills, no beer establishment should get away with charging those prices. I learned now that it is wise to ask the price of a beer before ordering. I guess you just trust that the establsihment will charge a fair price. I won't ever go back again!

Some friends and I went here on the recommendation of another friend. Big mistake. The food and the service were terrible! My fish and chips, the fish basket I believe, would be more aptly called fries with a piece of fish. My friend’s chicken was barely editable and the fries were soggy. And what’s with the coleslaw? It’s pink! No one was able to eat it, and it had nothing to do with it being pink! The waiter almost never came by and the manger was rude when we did complain. One place I’ll never return to.
Cons: Parking, service, and the food!

I couldn't figure out why this place is so busy all the time when it only struck me recently. Mr. B's has cornered the market on the crowd that has no idea what they want to do for the evening. They've got food, drinks, TVs for watching sports, pool tables, video games, and darts. I guess that makes it a great place to go if you've got a bunch of friends who want to go out, but can't pick between a pool hall, sports bar, or restaurant. The problem with Mr. B's, is that they don't do any of those things well. The pool tables aren't well kept, the food is pretty bad, and shape of the place makes it hard for it to be a good sports bar. However, this place is a Royal Oak tradition. I just wish they took the food quality up a few notches.
Pros: Good general hangout, Good people watching, Outdoor area in summe
Cons: Bad food, Extremely crowded

I really enjoy their Jack Daniels chicken sandwich. The beef brisket sandwich is good as well. The ribs are not very original, but they taste good. The beers are pricy, but the ones off the tap are relatively large. lots of TVs for sports watching
Pros: sportsbar
Cons: crowded

All I can say is that the food was great, the music was perfect, there are enough tv's for everyone, the crowd was a great mix and there were plenty of pool tables - plus optional outside seating. My only complaint is that service is spotty. Sometimes we've had great, non-stop service, other times non-exsistant - and it didn't seem to depend on how busy the place was.

This has food, drinks, music and a deck where you can relax, talk and eat. This is a great place to meet up with friends or collegues to talk and enjoy yourself.
Pros: people, atmoshere, dj
Cons: not enough chairs, no music on deck
