Ridley's has been a mainstay in the area for many years. They've been in this location for quite some time. Most first timers have a difficult time finding the place as it look like a warehouse from the outside and is a bit off the main drag in Royal Oak. Great history here as evidenced by the wall when you walk in with pictures of past performers Inside, they can curtain off half the room if the crowd is small. This obviously helps with the atmosphere. The comics are generally good...they consistently bring in the best talent (with few exceptions)....much better than any other club. Sound is always good, at least for the headliners. The drinks are what you'd expect from a comedy club. The service isn't very good, so I usually order 2 beers at a time just in case the servers don't get back to the table in a timely fashion. I've never ordered any food so no comment. Menu is very, very limited. If you're looking for good comedy on the weekends, go to the Comedy Castle...you will rarely be disappointed. Owner is a great guy!
Pros: Consistent top notch talent
Cons: parking, slow service

Parking at Comedy Castle is usually not hard to find if you come early. If you plan to use the Entertainment book coupon (buy one admission get one free) be sure to make reservations first or they won't take your coupon. Admission is usually $10, more for special acts. Shows are 18 and up with is a great plus for underage college students with no place else to go. They WILL card you for alcohol, so don't even bother trying. If you are a non-smoker, the "non smoking section" here leaves much to be desired. There is no physical separation or ventilation between it and the smoking section, so you'll be smoking whether you like it or not basically. If this bothers you CC does offer a non-smoking show on Friday nights. The chairs here are unfortunately quite uncomfortable. The drinks here are yummy, but expensive, weak, and small. There are a few appetizers available. Service is okay. The MC will frequently remind you to tip your servers. I have yet to be disappointed by any of the comedians here, so that is a definite positive. So basically if you're coming here to get drunk you're coming here to get broke. If you will be drinking here, be careful with your driving situation as Royal Oak police hiit the streets in great numbers on weekend nights.
Pros: Great comedy, free tix through email list
Cons: Expensive weak drinks, very smoky

I had a giggling good time at Comedy Castle all four occasions I've been there. The ambiance was ideal to take a friend, family member or a date. It was incredibly busy each time I went, so the service was sluggish. I can't blame them for that but the drinks were weak too and there werent many choices for appetizers; only chips, popcorn, or fried food like mozzarella sticks. The show makes it worth the trip to return.
Pros: Friendly Crowd, Inexpensive & Busy, Great Show
Cons: No Great Food, Drinks wern't strong, Slow service
