User Reviews for Powerhouse Gym

I have been a member at this gym for a long long time, actually I have worked out at many PowerHouse Gyms, I have seen the mangement change along with owners and I have changed gyms because I had one too many bad experiences. Let me begin by saying that I don't care about how clean a gym is (this one is not clean at all) or how friendly the staff is (I agree with Debbie38, staff is horrid) all I care about is the equipment and if I can get a good workout. The equipment is ok & slow at fixing anything thats not in working order. I take my showers at home bc I have seen the locker rooms flood, (water from the SEWER flooding the lockerrooms and workout area), the changing area and workout area and if it rains you bettter workout fast and get out is all I can say! The staff changes alot so I don't try and make nice with any of them but the abuse and fighting that goes on between the staff is annoying and sometimes it ruins my workout because it happens infront of members. And Yes the manager ( who actually is prob the owner) is rude and vulgar when he is on his cell phone or front desk phone yelling and swearing at who ever he is on with, maybe to others this seems to be small things but when you pay as much maoney as they charge you should expect to have a soothing relaxing workout in peace. Maybe the gym seems clean to vquince but it is filthy and equipment needs to be dusted and cleaned, I have seen this gym at its best and all I see it becoming now is ...well there are no words. The manager finally drove me away when I found a charge for a new membership on my credit card without my consent and when I confronted the manager over the phone he told me to have my cc company handle it...THAT TAKES OVER 30 DAYS , I closed my card & got refund no help from them.

Cons: Needs new mamgement

I think I would have to somewhat disagree with debbie38. Although I do believe the membership fee should be lower, I think that should be true at all facilities. I did hear of some disagreement or altercation between two staff members but I admit I wasn't there to witness it first hand. Although, I have to admit that the staff members did initially seem a bit standoff-ish; but just like anybody, you have to get to know people before you can make such a judgment call as that (people say the same thing about me). I think debbie38's viewpoint may be a bit skewed because there are a lot of positives about this place. She may have had a few bad personal experiences and her expectations may be unreasonably high. Noone ever wants to point out the positive things. For the most part, the gym is reasonably clean. After all, it is a gym and not a beauty parlor! Some of her complaints (in my opinion) are nit-picky and more about the members than the staff. There are other gyms that are far less clean than this one. The atmosphere is pleasant and the people in general are reasonably friendly when approached. Also, I've been around when there were altercations or complaints and they seem to deal with them in a reasonable and professional manner. This is a establishment is just as good as any other. They will face the same types of problems as any other and I think they have been doing a fine job!

Pros: Great place to work out. Very conveinient.

Cons: Membership fees should be lower

Joining this gym was the best thing I've ever done in my life. I was provided a personal trainer and a nutrionist, who really took a personal interest in me. They would encourage me not to give up and they would call me @ home when I would miss an appt. It is a friendly atmosphere and the members made me feel like a part of the family. KUDOS to the owners. Keep up the excellent work.

This place has gone down hill. They keep rearranging the machines and keep painting the bathrooms to cover the leaks and dirt only to make you smell the fumes. The equipment is dirty and I never see anyone wiping the machines down in the cardio area or the pads on the weights. Everything is overpriced and the workers are the worst they don't acknowledge you untill its time to re-up your membership, all of the sudden everyone cares. They use your credit card and chg a new membership befor you even tell them they have your permission. The morning shift has no one to run the gym they let the trainers open who are busy with clients and staff keeps changing because the Manager is very rude and vulgar and the last straw for me was a fight between the manager and his cousin ( or brother not sure) in front of us members.... Please find a different location as I did .

Pros: only pro was it was close to home

Cons: dirty, overpriced, rude behavior
