I grew up in the downriver area, an while the restaurant is named Zukin's Rib shack, it should be called the Grease Shack. The food is not that tasty or high quality - they do have a large menu and decent prices, but this is not a place I would recommend to a friend for good ribs. If you want good ribs in the Down River area the only place that I know of is Famous Daves.

The fries are always cold. They use Open-Pit and I think the meat quality has gone down. I used to swear by Zukin's, now I don't even bother. The pizza stinks! Could they at least use real cheese?!? I walked in to place an order, waited 15 minutes for it and it was cold. I had to walk three houses away...in the summer and it was cold!

and now still is one of the best. Ribs and chicken are the best in town, but you gotta try the scallops...men, they're good!. But the best of all are the KABOBS! Nobody can resist them. Sorry you can`t eat in there.
There`s a lot parking, safe place and fast service. If you want my advice, make your order once in there, so you can take your food when still hot...you will not wait over 10 minutes and it worth it!

This place is fantastic. It has the most tasty ribs you can probably find in the area. They also serve other things coated with their delicious barbeque sauce. The staff is very friendly and will make you laugh while you wait. You can even order and take it home. try it, its great!!

I mean no disrespect, but Zukin's did not live up to my expectations. Being fairly new to the area I Zukins was recommended to me by several friends for some good 'cue. Unfortunately, many in this area believe that barbecue is grilling something and putting sauce on it. I am a fan of traditional southern bbq (ala memphis, kansas city) and this was not it. The ribs and chicken that I had tasted as if they were pre cooked and slapped on the grill to warm and covered in open pit. I prefer a smokier bbq. My opinion might not be popular in this area but I wasn't impressed.

Some of the best BBQ in the metro Detroit area. The rib and chicken can't be beat. My favorite is called the "Gizmo". It's ribs, shrimp (just the right amount of breading), fries and bun. The fries are average and the bun is usualy a brick but so what the main dishes more than make up for it. The portions are good sized and should fill even the hearyest appitites. The price for what you get is very fair. If you live Downriver/SW Detroit and get a craving for BBQ get to Zukin's now!
FYI. This is not a sit-down type BBQ, get your food and go home.

- Cons: Bun (aka brick), fries (average), Gets busy
