A great restaurant is out of business as of early 2008. I have to write more, but what can I say? I reccommend Diamond Jim Brady's in Novi.
Great food

We enjoyed an Easter Brunch for 3. The menu was fabulous and they made it feel like a very elegant and special holiday!
- Pros: Elegant
- Cons: Very expensive
Steak, game and seafood with a clubby atmosphere. Perfect for Northville--aka Pleasantville.

In Short
The exposed brick walls give the building an old-fashioned feeling, which is enhanced by white lace curtains, prints of ducks and owls, mounted moose and wild boar heads and an old-fashioned menu. Stalwarts like Beef Wellington, pate, rack of lamb, lobster and shrimp cocktail share space with a few newer menu concepts, like blown-up duck. All are prepared with impeccable care. End on a sweet note, as their desserts are worth saving room for.
Outstanding

This place was phenomenal. We were treated like royalty from the time we walked in the door. The food and service was excellent - above and beyond. The server notified us that they were under new management (this might explain a dissatisfied review they got earlier). It's our new favorite place.
- Pros: Food, Service, Ambiance
Highly disappointing

We live in Colorado, but have family in Michigan. Our group had lunch there on Saturday. The ravioli was undercooked, even after having been sent back to the kitchen so that it coudl be finished. We were overcharged for crab cakes, $28 instead of $14 for two small, fishy tasting and obviously stale patties. The men's room was out of service and we had to share the ladies room which was quite odd. Our server did his best to stay out of view and we had to ask for water from whomever was passing by. We expected so much, but left only wanting to warn others so to avoid a similar experience.
- Pros: Nice Town, Pleasant atmosphere
- Cons: Pricey, Bad Food, Poor Service
Great Romantic Food

The sauces are to DIE for ! Just Darn Romantic in a town that looks like Norman Rockwell designed .
Appetizers are very cool and the steaks can't be beat.

My husband and I went for Valentines day. The food was great and the service was very friendly, but a little slow. The tables were a bit crowded, but I"m sure they put more in for Valentines day. The steak was awesome and it was very romantic. We definately plan on going back to try new dishes! This was the first time we went to a really nice restaurant where we felt comfortable being there and the dishes were as great in quality as there were in quantity.
- Pros: good food, friendly service, romantic
- Cons: slow service
Small Town Delight

I was thoroughly impressed with this restaurant. I travel frequently and find myself in big city "favorites" all too often. My recent trip to the Detroit area ranks high on my list of "places to remember" because of my dining experience at Mackinnon's. My business group was greatly warmly by the hostess and we were sitted right next to picture window. The service that followed was excellent, as they recommended a bottle of wine that perfectly complimented the filet mignon!
This was one of the tenderest steaks I have ever had! The meal was completed by the famous "Chocolate Creation". After reading the management comment, I was surprised they were talking about the same restaurant. The Chef and General Manager personally came to our table to see how everything was. It is a "must visit restaurant" You won't be disappointed!

I've had the wonderful experience to dine at Mackinnon's many times and every time it has been Excellent, I know that everyone will love the food, its very creative and chef Ian Mackinnon sure learned how to make food into an art, I guess he learned it from the founder of the place his Dad. How great can food get, here is where you'll find out, service is always great but let me say that the atmosphere is like apple pie, warm, classy, and unforgetable !
- Pros: get there while you can / a classic / clocks ticking
- Cons: none are you crazy
