This was our first time to La Bistecca, arriving about 9pm on a Saturday night. We had not really planned on stopping so we were dressed quite casually for the restaurant. Service was a bit slow considering that the dining room was about half full. However this was probably more a matter of promoting a relaxed atmosphere rather than poor service. The food was very good. We had the Sei Formaggi as an appitizer and it was plenty for two people. The salads were fine, nothing special. The entrees were outstanding, the gnocchi with lump crab meat and the tenderloin tips with pasta. Very extensive wine list. The cabernet section must have had 50 choices, ranging from $30 to $100+. Overall an excellent experience.
Pros: Beautiful dining room. Great food.
Cons: Service was a bit slow.

Me, my wife and youngest daughter went to this place for dinner. It was excellent. Service is great, you can feel that everybody cares... During the evening one of the owners, Jerrry, stopped by and we had a very pleasant chat with him. I have mentioned to him that we were there to celebrate my birthday - when desert time came a 'Happy Birthday' logo was inscribed with chocolate on my plate !! Food is very good. Another important detail - this place is not in a very hot location, but you can immediately understand that all the patrons visit it on a regular basis. I highly recommend this place to everybody.

Excellent food, great service. The staff is friendly and conversational. Will go out of their way to do something special if requested. The piano bar is a great place to relax and enjoy the entertainment.
Pros: As a traveler they always make you feel welcome.
Cons: None

My boyfriend took me here for my birthday. I had been once before. The bread and oil were delicious. The stuffed mushroom appetizer was really tasty. His 10oz. steak was excellent. My sea bass lacked flavor and I didn't finish it. Our server, Dale, waited too long between visits to our table. We waited a long time for our food to come out. My first visit there was much better. Heather was my waitress and was very quick, the chicken dish I had was remarkable. However, the second visit did not meet up to my former expectations. I would still go again even though our service was slow, to try some other organic choices on the menu.
Pros: Great food, nice atmosphere
Cons: Slow server that night

My husband (who is from Italy) and I decided to dine in after hearing it so highly recommended by a few business partners of his. We were much less than impressed. While the steak was good, we've had better elsewhere at a fraction of the price!! Also how they claim to be an "Italian" Restaurant is beyond us. Nothing about it is Italian!! From the outside appearance, the decor inside, the lighting, and the ambiance. We have dined in Italy at the "real deal" Italian Inns during visits to his hometown, and have spent much less money!! The service was decent. Definitely a far cry from the "impeccable' they boast about. Overall we were less than impressed and the prices are ridiculous. FYI-- they ARE NOT the ONLY restaurant in Michigan (or the country for that matter) to prepare and serve Piedmontese beef !!!!! Nice try LaBistecca, better luck next time.. We say save your money, Olive Garden offers a better "Italian" experience.
Pros: Friendly valet attendants
Cons: Extremely overpriced, dirty parking lot, not the only Piedmontese" restaurant.

It doesn't get any better than this! I After visiting almost all of the fine Italian restaurants throughout the Detroit Metro Area., I said to myself "Why I haven't been here sooner? " The calamari, veal and steaks were outstanding. The chef and Jerry were mingling throughout the estabilishment, atttending to all of the guests. They invited suggessions of our favorite dish for preparation on a future visit! As recommended by several friends to dine here, Jerry Constanza and his staff exceeded our expectations.

After years of enjoying the fine food and service at La Bistecca, I have to wonder what happened. All of the familiar faces are gone. They seem to have had a huge turnover in staff. The food is still pretty good, the prices are extremely high and the service is mediocre. Something is wrong.
Cons: uneven service, expensive, not the same

Uses free range meats. It was such a good restaurant. Reservations are recommended, although they managed to get us in without one.
Pros: organic meats, Good wine selection
Cons: , needed reservations

it was the first time we had been there and it was mine and my husbands wedding anniversary when we went to la bisteccas, i was so impressed the food was so wonderful, the waitress was graet, the chef came out to greet us and he made us a surprize desert for our anniversary. we enjoyed everything, they made it so special for us and i will never forget it.
Pros: great food, great waitstaff, very romantic setting

Darn good steak. I don't buy into the "only restaurant serving piemontese hype" but the steaks are good. There are just as good steaks to be found elsewhere at a more realistic price. An attractive looking place but it is not really an Italian restaurant. When was the last time this chef dined in Italy? In Italy, restaurants in this price range are absolutely incredible. Overall this is just O.K. Look elsewhere for a truly Italian dining experience.
Pros: Good Beef
Cons: Way Overpriced, Not Italian
