Mexican Gardens

The food is great and the prices too. My husband loves to come here, and I not being a mexican food fan can find things I enjoy too (though they look at me funny when I order french fries and a chicken qusidea). But don't go on a Friday or Saturday night and expect to just sit down. The are ALWAYS jammed packed, but the wait is usually about 30 minutes, and with the bar and large screen TV, the time flys by.

The food at Mexican Gardens is very good, but the service leaves much to be desired. I grew up in Southgate and have been going to Mexican Gardens for as long as I can remember. The food is what keeps my husband and family coming back. We are regulars there, at least once a week, but the servers do not ever act as if they have ever seen us before. If we were poor tippers, I could understand, but we tip at least 20% and we are both in the restaurant business, so I just don't understand why we are never given very friendly service. Mary acts as if she is "put out" just to seat people and it is usually downhill with any of the servers. We consider not going back just because of the unfriendly service, but we still go back?!

Pros: great mexican food

Cons: below average service from host to server to busser

Fabulous Food, Fabulous Value!! I have lived in the area all my life and have yet to find a better Mexican restaurant. The enchilada sauce is the best.

We have visited Mexican Gardens since I was a kid. We have seen it grow and change throughout the years but the friendly, propmt service has always been there. It is nice to go into a restaurant and be recognized by the staff. They make you feel at home. The food is very authentic and tasty. It is the best Mexican Restaurant in the area. The Juanito Burrito is fabulous. My kids love the chicken fajitas. And you should see the new decor they got. The atmosphere is warm and inviting and I love the new booths. They give you more privacy than the old ones. When we are on vacation, we can't wait to come back to eat there food.

Pros: Great Food, Warm atmosphere, Friendly Staff

I moved to this area in 1989 when I was 9 and this was the first Mexican resturant we ate at in this neighborhood, and it was the last. it was the family favorite for years. If I still lived there I would still go every friday with my kids. This place was tiny back in the day now it is beatiful and I'm sure it still is. The last time ate there was in 95 and I still talk about it. YUMMY YUMMY YUMMY! The best salsa! The beef TACOS ARE GREAT!

Great food for the prices. I travel from Toronto Ontario to eat here and it is well worth it. I have been coming to this restaurant for the past ten years or so. I highly reccomend this establishment.

Pros: Great food, Great prices, Awesome service

Chicken Fajitas were quite tastey, good chips, salsa, average prices. They need to have a few more combo choices, instead of just one or two mexican combos. Overall, a good mexican place.

Pros: good food, Fast service

Cons: long wait to sit down, Decor could be better

Best Mexican food around. Prices are great. Service is very friendly & prompt. There is a bar and big screen to entertain you while you wait, although the ample seating is deceiving. You think you will wait and hour and it's 10 minutes. May I recommend the enchilada's. They serve them with traditional brown sauce and are the best I've ever had.

Over the course of years, being a regular at this establishment over the last 10 years, I've seen this place have it's ups and downs. Lately, it's going downhill for food taste while the prices rise. The atmosphere is very authentic, however the food could be better as it has been in the past. With Mexican Village being only 15mins down I-75, I'd rather spend the time driving down there. But overall, not too shabby since it is close and convenient.

Pros: Cleanliness, Atmosphere, Great Margaritas!!!!

Cons: Too $$ for quality, Been Better in Past, Beef is too greasy

No matter what time of the day or evening, Mexican Gardens is always open to satisfy the craving. I love going there because the service is friendly and the food is served up hot and quick! I would definitly recommend eating at this fine restaurant.
