Debuting in 1962 as Thrif D Discount Center in Scranton, Pa., this drugstore chain became known as Rite Aid in 1968, and today is one of the largest in the nation. In addition to a pharmacy, each store carries a wide variety of health-care and household items--from nutritional supplements to cleaning supplies to snack foods.
