Not half bad.

The nicest thing about Polonia is that it's a short walk if the wait at Polish Village Cafe is too long. Everything about it is a step below PVC. If anyone doubts that just take a look at the parking lot and see which end is more crowded.

Someone at Polonia needs to teach the waitresses to say, "Can I get you anything else." Preferable this needs to be said 10 to 15 minutes after they bring the food to the table. My experience is they drop the food off and you don't see them again until the bring the check to your table.

Overall I'd give Polonia a C+

• Pros: Nice decor.
• Cons: Waitresess can be on the lazy side.

Eating at Polonia's is like going to your Polish mother's for dinner.

We discovered Polonia on Labor Day and have been regular customers ever since., It is better then eating at a restaurant - it feels like Mom or Grandma cooked a wonderful meal for you. The dill pickles on the table are my favorite! The fresh polish sausage and pork chops are delicious. We have never had a meal that was less then excellent. We will continue to go to Polonia and rave about the food. The waitresses are fine and all speak English. This is not a pick up joint - they are professional, polite waitressses.

Excellent Polish fare. Ambiance is perfect. Had a wonderful time. Service was excellent. Choice of dinners is great. I could not ask for a better experience for this type of food.

Charming Polish restaurant with great food

We ate dinner at the Polonia about a month ago and the food was really delicious, including their famous dill pickle soup. The prices were a bargain for the generous portions and the service was very pleasant. (Note: cash only).

Polonia

I love the Polonia. My husband and I stumbled upon it last summer at the Polish festival. We have returned many times and have brought friends and family. Every one who came with us so far hasloved it. This June we are having our 10 year anniversary there and can not wait to share it with the rest of our friends. We simply love their food.

Polonia has great, inexpensive Polish food. OMG! Best City Chicken and dill pickle soup! My family love this place!

Not what I hoped it would be. Actually.... really bad.

I always wondered what Polonia was like because I live in Hamtramck and drive by the place quite often. Then, while trying to Google the phone number, I came across all of these reviews. I thought that most of the negative ones must have been bogus because most of them seem to mention something about the girls who work there being attractive or not... How stupid is that? I envisioned some angry guy whose brutish advances on the Polish girls working there had been spurned, logging on to Citysearch attempting to enact his revenge or something, haha.. Anyways, based upon what some of the other reviews had said, I was looking forward to a great meal. But I'm sorry to say that it's not how I would describe my dinner there at all.

Maybe it was the fact that the best Polish place I've ever eaten at is less than 100 feet away from Polonia on the same street, or maybe it was the sickeningly cheesy "Polish" muzak that made me feel like I was eating in an elevator, or maybe it was the fact that the vegetables on my plate tasted like they were thawed from the freezer and the mashed potatoes tasted like the ones I used to get in the elementary school cafeteria, or it could have possibly been the fact that the beef in the cabbage roll was completely pink and the stuff actually came up and out again as soon as I made it back (half-running) to my house. It was probably a combination of everything though.

Honestly, I was really looking forward to checking the place out but I was seriously disappointed. Don't get me wrong, the people who work there are very nice. Hell, I even felt my mind wander as I waited for my food.. toying with the idea of what it might be like to settle down and marry myself a nice Polonia girl (that's a joke for all of you who don't pick up on sarcasm), but you couldn't pay me to eat there again.

• Cons: pretty much everything else

Excellent Food

I ate there last week for the first time on business. Great restaurant. Food was very good. Service was first rate. Excellent atmosphere. I will come back soon with friends.

Girls UGLY!

My good friend said to go here for the girls. I don't know why, I've seen better looking girls on that long drive down Caniff who wear face masks. Most had terrible accents, if your're going here for the girls-be prepared to not see anything special.
