The Zeitgeist looks for raw talent. Talent that is intuitive, dark, juicy, pure, untainted, and imaginative to the highest quality. Our main goal is to show the best art and produce the best plays we can find, working with artists who dig deep for their creation. Just a mile from Detroit's beautiful abandoned Train Station on the outskirts of Corktown, The Zeitgeist Gallery and Performance Venue's vision is as rare, raw, and unexpected as the city itself. Along with producing classic avant-garde plays as well as original works, half the Zeitgeist space became a venue for art just as invested in the experimental. The Zeitgeist Gallery was inspired by the late Jacques Karamanoukian: artist, thinker, art dealer, humanitarian. In the last 10 years the Zeitgeist has been proud to exhibit European artists such as Jaber, Rosemarie Kozcy, Stani Nitkowski, Sanfourche, Sendrey, Claudine Goux, Pascal Hecker, as well as fantastic local artists including Diana Alva, John Elkerr, George Graveldinger, Roger Hayes, Robert Hyde, Charles Keeling Lassiter, Maugre' a.k.a. Maurice Greenia Jr., Aaron Ibn Pori Pitts, James Puntigam, Karl Schneider, Michael Loverich, and many others.

Pros: Truly original, there's nothing like it in the greater Detroit area.

Cons: No hot water.
