Great times

by alex63424

Great atmosphere, friendly staff, and always a wild crowd. There are definately fancier places in Detroit, but none can meet the atmosphere of the Post Bar. One good story was a took a buddy from Mexico there, and when we walked in he was scared. He was in downtown Detroit and in a bar that is covered in graffiti from the patrons. With the music, staff, and atmosphere he had a great time. The staff made him have a great time.

  • Pros: friendly crowd

An urban dive where natives and suburbanites mix.

In Short
The long, narrow bar can be packed to the gills one night and nearly empty the next. Red Wings game nights are always packed: this is fan central, with frequent post-game sightings of players. The walls and ceilings are covered with handwritten messages from bar-goers. Even though it's a narrow space, it's a great place to dance. Pitchers of cheap beer and the beef pasties shipped in from Ishpeming on Michigan's upper peninsula are a must.

Detroit Post...still the best!

by smak59

The Detroit Post Bar is still by far the best! I'm not sure why everyone thinks 'bigger is better'....the old, crowded, small bars are still the best! Ever been to the Post New Years Eve Party? It's very cool!

Still would like to see J.T. back down there....he was always a big part of the whole 'Post experience'!!! lol

  • Pros: people of all ages, crowded, j.t. special :o)
  • Cons: parking-for some...

Bodacious

by Firefly89

I believe this is one of the best places to enjoy a Red Wing game and the atmosphere is definately all around fun. It doesn't matter what type of music you are into you are pretty much guarenteed to hear it.

  • Cons: parking

To the Post, Haste!!!

by MONTJOY44

As a 'Road Warrior' in media production, it was BEAUTIFUL to find a spot where my crew and I could find HONEST people in a RIGHTEOUS BAR with great homeade chow. The only thing COOLER than the BREW was the LASSES!!

  • Pros: SUTTLE DECOR, GREAT SOUND SYSTEM, MONSTER FOOD
