Worst Management. Very poor attention to guest. Management can never be reached when issues arise. This hotel should of never been remodeled the charm it had is gone. If its not broke don't try to fix it the management should of been remodeled. I really wanted my money but of coarse there was no one to talk to. What a waste

Please read this... can this website do the MATH? how can 8 one star reviews 2-2 star and 1-3 star add up to a 4.5? whos being bought off?. When this hotel opened in the 1960s it was an absolute jewel! it had antique furniture in the lobby and huge crystal chandeliers, rosewood doors and oriental carpet, and when i went back there to see about the supposed remodeling (was there nov 2008) i was shocked at how horrible it is. the lobby is unrecognizable. it looks worse than a hostel! i wanted to take the escalator from the parking garage on the ground floor up to the lobby but its been removed! ( yes the escalator is GONE! ) then the elevators were out of order. its enough to make a grown man cry to see what it was and what it has become. im not sure anything short of demolition could help at this point. i wonder what kind of idiots have been managing this property over the years that they let a beautiful building which was richly decorated, succumb to this level of ruin. do yourself a favor and pass it by. you will be saving yourself a depressing sight and im sure the service and rooms cant be much better than the lobby. i havent seen anything this bad since the michigan central station closed! the amazing thing is this building is still open for business! its a blemish on detroit

Convenient digs for jazz festival and auto show visitors.. In Short
The "Pontch," (as locals refer to the Pontchartrain Hotel), formerly a Crowne Plaza property, has gone though a number of ownership and management changes over the years, but has come out on top. The comfortable rooms offer dramatic river views and its proximity to Cobo Hall and Joe Louis Arena as well as its central location in the city's downtown financial district make the hotel a sensible choice for travelers.
